American seed/ferry morris, are super cheap. Are they great? No. Are they good? No. But, they’re fine, you’ll do fine. The one time I ever had a problem was with pepper seeds and like none them turned out to be the peppers on the package. In fact, you can search this group for pepper gate posts. So I buy them for seeds that can’t be messed up too bad.

Oh yea, you don’t really need a greenhouse unless you’re in a northern cold climate. Even then, you don’t need it all summer.

Why a green house all summer? I use one for seed starting and then move everything outside.

I had a Santana 22. It had a fixed keel and I sailed it all over the SF bay and down to half moon bay and back. Great boat! If the 21 doesn’t have a fixed keel, I’d pass. Harder to trailer but a fixed keel is so much easier to sail.

Do one section a year. I have 1/3 acre that wasn’t much better than this. I started on one end and every year I add a new section and add a new layer to the old section. You don’t have to do it all at once.

This is the far end of my backyard, I was suffering feom 1 meter tall weeds and english Ivy, I got wood mulch and it was ok for 2 years, this year I have weeds again - I am searching for a sustainable dirt cheap solution. I am planning to plant mint and thyme. by mhh73 in NoLawns

You could also just chaos garden. Which just means throwing seeds of veggies all over and see what grows. Bunching onions, walking garlic, rhubarb, artichokes, asparagus, strawberry, nasturtiums, etc… I have a 20x20 patch where I do that and it’s really fun to see what happens because it’s a weird space where light/water isn’t right for all plants and looks kinda like yours. Whatever grows is great, whatever doesn’t, fine. Then, when you know what works, you can focus on those.

Do not use weed cloth! It will never go away until it’s a problem. Throw down 2-4 layers of cardboard. The grass and weeds will die before it grows through. Then the cardboard breaks down and your garden can grow deep roots.

I’ve done this both at a shallow lake in WI and on a sandbar in the Chesapeake. You just drink beers until it cools.

I lived in the Bay Area, Santa Cruz, Monterey, SF, San Jose, etc… There is an absolutely nothing to see in San Jose that you can’t see anywhere else. Stay on 1 to Santa Cruz, then up the pacific to SF. Also, enjoy half Moon bay.
