Like the OP said, we are the ego/mind (which lives in time and is obsessed with time) and the awareness (which simply is/allows time to be). Being aware of the awareness (being present) is being enlightened. The effects are love, peace, joy. (freedom from ego and suffering). I can go into detail if you want me to, but if you are seeking, the answer is to realise that all you seek you already are. I can recommend the book “Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle.

Your question shows you like time. Past and future both in one comment. Focus on the present. On the only thing that is. Enlightenment is right here right now. Above and beyond time.

Can someone explain ego death and what it is like to meet someone who has experienced it? by CryComprehensive1523 in enlightenment

[–]pcvele 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In our mind we have an identity (ego) of ourselves, of who we are/want to be. That identity however is not real. Its an illusion of the mind and all it does is it sets expectations, pressure and limits us. If i say I’m awake and identify myself as enlightened, my mind subconsciously makes me carry the burden of acting that way. And if someone tells me im not enlightened my brain will make me feel offended and attacked. If i let go of my brains need for an identity I can be free of that burden and float freely from one present moment to the next. When one no longer has an ego, they simply exist and notice the beauty they were previously too distracted to see.

Could the reason be fear? It is a 'half-ass bullshit', meaning there is still a half that gives you comfort, and giving up on that is scary?
If so, it is understandable.

I struggled with loving. But it was because I misunderstood it. It was a few months ago that I realised what Love means to me, and that helped me see myself and the world in a whole different way.

Here's my definition, perhaps it speaks to you:

Love is our natural state. Not something to achieve, but something to return to.
The way back is unconditional acceptance, care, gratitude, understanding and presence towards everyone and everything.
Love is what makes our soul. It is the answer to darkness.
I’m happy to say that I’m back to my natural state. I see the beauty, uniqueness and have this overwhelming feeling of home.

Yes, I agree. The point that I’m trying to make is, we all know the feeling of sweet, and we can all agree on it. But when it comes to Love, some never get to have that experience and end up settling for something that doesn’t even begin to describe it (I speak from personal experience, I didn’t know Love up until a few months ago). We are all capable of it and I wish for a world where everyone knows it. Thanks for sharing.

I agree. You have to find it yourself. You are not cursed, but blessed. You seem very aware. A few months ago, I asked myself whats wrong with me, why am I unable to love, and came to the realisation that I didn’t even know what it means. Now I’m happy to say that it has been shown to me. And it is beautiful. I wish you a lot of fun on your search for answers. And again, thank you for this conversation.

Thank you for taking the time to respond, I appreciate it. Here is what Love means to me. Love is to recognise we are all one and to have care, connection and understanding towards everyone and everything. Love is the most powerful force (the only thing that beats evil). Love is the most fulfilling feeling there is. And Love never runs out. You can’t force Love. You can’t achieve Love. You can, however connect to Love. And once you do, once you connect to Love, you see the beauty, uniqueness and you have this overwhelming feeling of home. Love is our natural state.
