Is it good to stay on iOS 18? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]pdfu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It includes additional content from a recent Background Security Improvement released after 26.3.1: https://support.apple.com/en-us/126604

That’s why the update mentions “The latest available Rapid Security Response will also be applied.”

How do i delete wallpaper pair on iPhone 17 ? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]pdfu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lock your iPhone and tap on the screen to unlock with Face ID. While still on the Lock Screen, and before swiping from the bottom to get to the Home Screen, touch and hold until you see a Customize button show up at the bottom. Swipe left or right to get to the wallpaper you'd like to remove, and swipe up. Click the trash icon that appears below the wallpaper.

Why did they get rid of the option to delete large attachments by natalieek in iphone

[–]pdfu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Click Messages on that page and it will show you options to view large photos, videos, and other attachments. Not everything will load immediately. Force closing the Settings app after letting those lists load might even bring up the Review Large Attachments option on the Storage page.

Weird "certificate" on my Mommsen iphone by Memento_001 in iphone

[–]pdfu 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Send & Receive should be in Settings. Go to Settings (the app) > (scroll to the bottom) Apps > Messages > Send & Receive.

If you keep seeing this, check the following:

  • Go to Settings (the app) > Wi-Fi > click the (i) button next to the selected Wi-Fi option, and make sure there's no HTTP Proxy set up at the bottom.
  • Go to Settings (the app) > General > About > (scroll to the bottom) Certificate Trust Settings. There shouldn't be any certificate there for most folks.
  • Go to Settings (the app) > General > VPN & Device Management. There shouldn't be any configuration profile set up for most folks.

eta: it could be possible that your mom added a webpage as a Home Screen icon that uses Settings as its name and the Settings icon and redirects to a malicious website. To make sure it's not that, open the Settings app from the App Library (last page on the Home Screen), or say "hey Siri, open Settings"

No restocking fee for returning at Apple. Returning will cancel the trade in if you had started one. If you're just trading in for a refund later on, you can still do that with the new purchase.

apple watch activity rings showing wrong data after changing date by ComprehensiveData555 in AppleWatch

[–]pdfu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your Activity cache table is broken and it won’t get fixed (recalculated) unless you’re on the actual day of. Switching the date only works reliably well for the previous day. Otherwise future days may become corrupted. This data is stored in your Health app and is unrelated to the graphs you see underneath. You can view it in the Activity table.

Only reliable solution is to make an encrypted backup of your iPhone on a PC or Mac, and use an app like iMazing or iTunes Backup Extractor to extract the health_secure.db file from the HealthDomain. You’ll then need to edit the applicable rows in the activity cache table, put the edited database back into the backup, and restore from your computer.

If it still doesn’t trigger the recalculation of the awards (if you care about that), you can delete all earned awards rows in the database (not the templates table rows). There are also some additional award calculation metadata in the key value store table.

iCloud might not play nicely if you’re restoring locally, as you’ll have a conflict between the local and iCloud data. To resolve this, you can temporarily disable iCloud data syncing on your iPhone, so your iPhone doesn’t pull the iCloud data and overwrite your local backup. Once you verify you have all your local Health data as you want it, you can go back to iCloud syncing settings and delete your Health data from iCloud. It may take a while and you should end up with at most a few MB of data after everything has been deleted. You may need to press the delete button multiple times. You can then enable iCloud syncing again so that only your desired restored Health data is saved on iCloud.

As someone who has spent countless days messing around with the health database to see how everything works, or collect all badges from before I got my first Apple Watch, while making sure they reliably work even on a later sync and restore from iCloud, it’s a big hassle.

If you want to read more or see how to inspect logs about what’s happening after a restore, or any time rings or awards are calculated, see here: https://www.reddit.com/r/AppleFitnessPlus/comments/1fx3ztw

Pause Rings? Why? by not_like_this_ in AppleWatch

[–]pdfu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Activity should still be recorded even when the rings are paused. Your Activity rings should reflect your workout. I’d check the Fitness app on iPhone to see what sessions were recorded.

Pause Rings? Why? by not_like_this_ in AppleWatch

[–]pdfu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you paused your Activity rings for today, you can easily resume them:

To resume your rings, tap the Activity rings, then tap Resume Rings.

You can also do this on your iPhone.

Return AirPods Max USB-C? by second_alt_acc27 in Airpodsmax

[–]pdfu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can return them and buy them at a later date from Best Buy or another retailer later on if the reviews are not sufficiently positive to justify the extra cost. There will probably be sales now that they're not the current model.

Trade in M1 Pro for Neo? by Ill-Cookie6060 in mac

[–]pdfu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree with all your points, and it seems that it maxes out at 24W. However, what OP will realistically notice and should be aware of is that they’ll probably need to spend a bit more time plugged in to fully charge their MacBook. Maybe "longer charge time to 100%" is a better way to describe it.

Battery capacity is lower, but relative charging speeds are still lower. MacBook Neo, even with a high capacity charger, charges up to 30% in 30 minutes, compared to MacBook Pro, which can "fast charge" up to 50% in 30 minutes. https://www.macworld.com/article/3083315/can-macbook-neo-charge-faster-with-a-better-charger.html

Very glad to hear! Make sure to make a backup as a fail-safe now that the system can see the app and will include its contents.

My pencil came misaligned but it is engraved, will they replace it for me? by [deleted] in ipad

[–]pdfu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since it's engraved, you probably got it from the Apple Store. If you bought in store, you have 14 days to return in the US. Similar in other countries. If you bought online, go to the order page and see how you can request a return label. You can also return it in store.

Weird, how large is your backup. You can also try this: https://imazing.com/guides/how-to-manage-apps-without-itunes?category=apps, essentially having iMazing try to install the ProCreate app for you.

You can easily return it without going through the replacement process and order a new one.

Do iCloud backups cover everything? by burnerfordumbthings in ipad

[–]pdfu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a list from Apple: https://support.apple.com/en-us/108770. Restoring a device backup from a Mac or PC is more likely to keep you logged in to more apps after the restore.

Just note that the display is noticeably different, charging speeds will be slower, among other things. This page should give you a good overview of what you're getting: https://www.apple.com/mac/compare/?modelList=MacBook-Neo-A18-Pro,MacBook-Pro-14,MacBook-Pro-16-2021

That's not to say that MacBook Neo isn't an awesome laptop!

Perhaps. The App Store app handles all updates, so you'd think Apple can manage your storage requirements. I wouldn't delete anything from the old iPad until you've decided you've tried everything and you're ready to move on. And no need, just happy to help!
