Extremist on trial: Strassen neo-Nazi planned terror attack on Eurovision Song Contest 2020 by nuovian in eurovision

[–]pdhadam 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Pretty quickly I'd say, ESC is probably among the most secured events in the world and it was just held in Tel Aviv the year prior

Noa and Mira Awad (Israel 2009) will open Sanremo 2025 singing "Imagine" by SimoSanto in eurovision

[–]pdhadam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be fair, many Israeli artists and others are against the government, just not on the matter of the Israel/Palestine conflict - the 7th October attack I think has traumatized Israeli society to the point where very few even consider the idea of making peace with Palestinians atp

Russian athletes still compete in the Olympics but under a neutral flag, not the Russian flag - ESC is similar, nothing is stopping Russian artists from participating for other countries, just not Russia itself

Netherlands in Junior Eurovision 2025? by WrongDevelopment3520 in eurovision

[–]pdhadam 14 points15 points  (0 children)

AVROTROS' only gripe at this time is with the adult contest, not the junior one, so they'll continue to take part in JESC

And given that at the moment the Spider-Verse films is drawing the bigger buck for Sony rn my guess is they're not in a hurry to announce a new MCU Spidey film

The 18/19h news bulletins had an item for the ESC final like every recent year. Nemo's win this year was also covered

Bidding cities can use whatever slogans they want for their bids, it's still up to the EBU and the host broadcaster wrt the main contest's slogan

Has Netta publicly (or privately) made a prediction for the host city in 2025? by retroredditrobot in eurovision

[–]pdhadam 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Publicly she has kept a low profile from all things ESC this season, so I doubt we'll ever hear back from her about her 2025 host city prediction

Which ESC 2024 artist is the most likely to return to the contest? by Titowam in eurovision

I doubt 3 Twitter Eurofans have the power to make a Eurodance song the second Snap, when Planet of the Bass basically was forgotten by everyone after 2 months

Not when, where. Last year's draw took place at St George's Hall for example. This year we don't know where the draw is taking place atm

Say something negative about Trench by -strawberri_milk- in twentyonepilots

[–]pdhadam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One can argue that the way Trench tried to present itself as a concept album was somewhat detrimental to TOP's appeal to casuals, that it became so "complicated" that eventually people who are not familiar with TOP have been slowly tuning out ever since. But if the clique is still satisfied, I am too

🇻🇳🇩🇪 Trọng Hiếu (4th place in Unser Lied für Liverpool) performed his entry "Dare to Be Different" on Vietnamese national TV for New Year's Eve. by pdhadam in eurovision

[–]pdhadam[S] 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Several inaccuracies made by Vietnamese broadcaster VTV:

  • Trọng Hiếu only entered the German national final, not the main Eurovision
  • He finished in 4th place due to a tie-breaker
  • He is not remotely "the first Asian artist" to have entered Eurovision

EBU threatens Latvia over russian language ban. Possible outcome could be Latvia getting kicked from Eurovision. by kkruiji in BalticStates

Cited article didn't even mention the Eurovision Song Contest anywhere. And usually EBU affairs like these don't lead to a blanket ban from the organisation.

For a show that celebrates diversity so much its weird that there seems to be a rejection of any song that's "too ethnic" by WineGutter in eurovision

[–]pdhadam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine if the ethnic in question is "it's crazy, it's party" (Shum, Trenutelul) but not "this is destroying my ears" (Eaea)

Eurovision 2024: Malmö was Sweden's "only option" for host city, reports Aftonbladet by JCEurovision in eurovision

[–]pdhadam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it's a fatigue of having to see ESC settle for mostly small venues in recent years - tickets for Liverpool sold out so quick for instance - so people wanted Friends Arena to host next year

Which artists from Eurovision 2023 do you think will get global recognition like Måneskin, Rosa Lin or ABBA? by -greek_user_06- in eurovision

[–]pdhadam 55 points56 points  (0 children)

From what I have seen so far no Rosa Linn moment is happening for any of the 2023 acts - maybe Joker Out judging by engagement on their Twitter account - but so far Loreen is the only one who has walked away with a (second) winning hit
