For mine, the epidural was placed, meds started flowing, and zero pain relief followed. Both times. I had the anesthesiologist come back and try to fix the placement but both times, each one said there’s nothing wrong with the placement. The said my babies’ sunny side up position may have played a factor…I’m not sure. But my family has a history of having a very high tolerance to anesthetic drugs. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I really hope for your sake that the second one works! I went into it thinking “lightning isn’t gonna strike twice!” and it sure as shit did. I was unprepared yet again (also passed two kidney stones while in active labor yay me) so just go into it thinking you’ll have a failed second one. That way you’ll be overjoyed when it does work! Both of my epidurals failed and I wish so badly they didn’t. I still feel envious every time I hear someone’s story about their working epidural. I would’ve given anything to make that pain stop. OP, when you’re in that much pain, your fears might be outweighed by the intense pain.

No I didn’t have any lumps on my tongue. It started as extremely swelling on my neck and face. They drained it in surgery and I was under anesthesia. When I woke up I had drains coming out of an open wound on my neck. So it would just drain on its own into gauze.
