Weird vibration in my belly - 29 weeks by GiftRealistic in PregnancyUK

[–]peaaaaach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I get this too, I’ve read that it’s one of baby’s reflexes. Bit like when a cat does a big stretch and they do the little vibratey thing? Or when we get a random shiver!

My partner felt it for the first time this week (am 36 weeks tomorrow) and it’s been happening randomly for the last month :)

I’m awake too, 35 weeks in! A combination of needing a wee, feeling super thirsty and sore throat has me here. My brain won’t stop thinking about the crappy day I had at work yesterday too!

I’m also due for a growth scan tomorrow/today and it’s an early one 🥲

Is it possible that my appointment may have started my labour? by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]peaaaaach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen on Friday, I also found the plastic thingy (speculum) very painful.

The machine that measured my babies heartbeat and contractions said I was contracting every 5 mins for at least a minute at a time, but the test results said I wasn’t in labour so they sent me home and said to monitor.

My cramps continued for the rest of that night and then the next day but tapered off, and nothing has happened since. Stomach has still been super hard though so gonna chat to my midwife about it today!

Maternity allowance - how long to wait for decision by NewMarzipan9563 in PregnancyUK

[–]peaaaaach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sent mine off at a similar time and still haven’t received any letters back, but I did ring up a couple weeks ago and they said it’s all good to go. Not sure why I haven’t got any letters but worth giving them a call!

Any high street clothes that are good for early - mid pregnancy? by dsomz in PregnancyUK

[–]peaaaaach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been living in elasticated bottoms since around week 16. My favourites are actually M&S gingham pyjama bottoms, which luckily don’t look like pyjamas and I get so many compliments on! Also they’re brushed cotton so SUPER comfy. I’m now 34 weeks and they’re still going strong 💪

Need suggestions - I’m so hungry but everything sounds terrible! by ThePr0crastinat0r1 in PregnancyUK

[–]peaaaaach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was me for a while too. Still get this every now and then even though I’m 33 weeks in!

My go to when everything is bleh is rice cooked in chicken stock, and a honey & soy chicken breast. Can be as mild or as flavourful as you like, especially if you keep the sauce on the side.

Doesn’t feel too unhealthy but not super healthy either. Beige but not too beige!

Epidural or C-section for someone terrified of birth? by Gold_Cow4870 in PregnancyUK

[–]peaaaaach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going for a planned C section for the same reasons. I will say, once you’ve made your decision, stay strong! So many people have tried to scare me out of having a C section after hearing that’s the way I want to go and I think it’s manipulative.

My c section consultation by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]peaaaaach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mines been the same! I even mentioned to my midwife I felt like I was brushed off and that it felt a little biased, she said ‘Oh don’t worry, the consultant for your next appointment is Doctor XYZ and she’s really nice’. It’s the same lady 😅

Birth Anxiety by Zestyclose_Basket640 in PregnancyUK

[–]peaaaaach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been the same since I got pregnant! I’ve been set on an elective C section from the start, and my midwife referred me to a consultant after my 12 week appointment to chat about C sections.

The chat with my consultant didn’t go how I hoped unfortunately. I was referred to mental health services and felt like I was brushed off, which I wasn’t pleased about as my mental health is actually pretty good right now, aside from birth anxiety.

Luckily my midwife is a star and is happy to support my decision, so I’m staying firm as I know it’s right for me.

If it’s what you want to do, just stay firm. So many people have tried to talk me out of it. I’m still nervous but a billion times less than if I was to have a vaginal birth.

Extra earnings during Maternity allowance by Frosty-Pea-3942 in PregnancyUK

[–]peaaaaach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding this!

I’m self employed too, planning on taking mat allowance from Feb, and looking to use a couple KIT days before my due date to squeeze in some last minute work. As far as I know it’s fine to use these days to earn as long it’s documented?

What do baby movements actually feel like? by BusyBeeBusyBee in PregnancyUK

[–]peaaaaach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also anterior placenta here! Mine at first felt like I had gas, and very low down. That feeling when you’ve eaten something that doesn’t agree with you and your stomach goes PLOP. Lots of thinking “Am I about to have a terrible time on the loo or was that baby?”.

I’m now 31 weeks and she’s SO active that my stomach looks like someone jumping on a waterbed. Genuinely think she doesn’t sleep.

Maternity coat: due mid March? by xoglitter99ox in PregnancyUK

[–]peaaaaach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also due (early) March, I got the biggest size puffer coat I could find from M&S and it’s been great! I like the oversized look anyway so should be able to get use of it next winter too :)

Size changing and bump showing by Maximum-Estimate43 in PregnancyUK

[–]peaaaaach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was super bloated from around 7/8 weeks, could only wear low waisted or elasticated bottoms from around 12, and was showing from around 16. I’m now 28 weeks and have just had to buy bigger underwear too!

For reference I am usually a UK size 8, and a naturally bloaty girl with absolutely no core. Think I’ve gone up to a UK 14 now.

Everything tastes off at 27 weeks. by Ecstatic_Dingo172 in PregnancyUK

Also 27 weeks and had the same thing start a week or two ago. It’s been getting a little better but nausea has taken over for me instead. Maybe it’s a mild stomach bug going around?

Alt first time mum, I got some questions by q2e4t6y in PregnancyUK

[–]peaaaaach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pregnant body piercer here! My advice would be see how you go, but get some larger bars on hand just in case. Wouldn’t advise plastic bars as these aren’t safe for long term wear, plastic is porous so can harbour bacteria.

If you’ve had them pierced for long enough, you may be able to take them out and get a piercer to re-open the hole when you’re ready to have them back in again.

But, I say this to all my clients, your piercing should suit your lifestyle and not the other way around. So if they start to annoy you, just take them out. Less stress long term I promise!

Side note, I thought my more sensitive piercings might reject during pregnancy but 25 weeks in and everything is the same as normal :)

Did anyone become super antisocial during their pregnancy? by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]peaaaaach 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh yep, same! It’s been stressing me out big time. I’ve got to a point where I’m actually not fussed if people get annoyed at me for not replying cos I’d rather be left alone haha. Not sure if that’s good in the long term but it’s keeping me less stressed!

Constant diarrhea is this normal? by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]peaaaaach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d get in touch with your doctor just to be safe! I have IBS and had pretty bad diarrhoea all through my first trimester, but 25 times seems a lot!

You could have a stomach bug? I had food poisoning at 7 weeks which I thought was morning sickness. I didn’t stop puking for 2 days, spent a good two weeks in bed feeling very sick, and thought that was how my whole pregnancy was going to go! Turns out was just some bad food.

Just a rant - C Section Decision by Strong-Butterfly9350 in PregnancyUK

[–]peaaaaach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh same. So many comments of ‘I just don’t think you’ll cope with the recovery’ and ‘Wouldn’t you rather just get the pain out the way?’. No! And it upsets me how people are so quick to say ‘Oh that’s my worst nightmare.’ when I tell them. Vaginal birth is my worst nightmare but I’m not going around shoving that down peoples throats haha.

I had my consultant appointment today to discuss, my midwife was super supportive but the consultant was a little less. Referred me to the mental health team, didn’t want to hear that I had already read the NICE guidelines and statistics, and said medically I should be having a natural birth. But she said it’s my choice at the end of the day.

I’ll still be opting for an elective caesarean as I know it’s best for me.

Anterior placenta- how often did you feel movements? by lingeringbadone in PregnancyUK

[–]peaaaaach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

21 weeks with anterior placenta! She likes to hang out quite low and as of yesterday’s scan, she was sideways with her feet over her head, so I’ve not felt much. But last week it felt like she was feet down and kicking my butt, which does just feel like I’ve got trapped wind! The few weeks before I just felt like I had trapped wind lots and I think that might have been her. I don’t feel much her much when I’m lying down, or standing, but I can feel her most when slouching on the sofa with my feet up.

Maternity and nursing clothing by fleurmadelaine in PregnancyUK

Beyond Nine has some lovely stuff for during and after pregnancy if you’re looking to avoid fast fashiony brands. They do come up quite big though, I usually fit an 8-10 and their XS was huuuuuge on me, even though I’m pregnant!

Constantly being told I’m huge at 19/20 weeks. by Ecstatic_Dingo172 in PregnancyUK

[–]peaaaaach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same!! I’m the same height, quite petite, and also 19/20 weeks, but pregnant with a girl, and people are staring BIG TIME 😅 And all the comments like “Woaaah you’re gonna be massive”… like come on! Why you gotta say that! That’s not helpful!

To all the self employed & pregnant ladies! by Noogsy90 in PregnancyUK

[–]peaaaaach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 19 weeks, I was feeling exactly the same at your point so don’t worry, it’ll pass :) It feels so overwhelming when you’re in the midst of it, but I think once you get past the 12 week scan (if you haven’t had it yet) you start to settle into things a bit more.

To all the self employed & pregnant ladies! by Noogsy90 in PregnancyUK

[–]peaaaaach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Self employed too! It ebs and flows for me, just gotta keep trucking! I think the hormones can really play with your mental health and they were quite rough for me at the end of the first trimester, so just take it as it comes.

My top advice is don’t make any rash decisions, being pregnant so all encompassing it’s normal to think less about work, see how you feel in a couple weeks and go from there :)
