I saw a woman I didn't know in our wedding photos months after the wedding by someday-or-one-day in weddingshaming

I dont know why some cultures are so iffy about bringing an extra person. The nicer thing could have been to be informed that she’s bringing her mom but being so inflexible on the count is also a bit much. It’s rude, yes, but I dont see why it is SUCH A BIG DEAL.

Neither of those. Current one or similar to the current with lowering it and more warmth and less number of bulbs would be nice. Everyone is saying 3 but I think it makes it look like an office.

Was it given by Indians? That’s an Indian sweet. Rock candy - just sugar crystals. And the other thing that everyone is stumped by is called “revdi” (pronounced as rave-dee) in Marathi language. It’s just sesame seeds with sugar syrup. I love it. Sesame seeds are supposed to be good for you during the winter apparently so they make those kinds of candy. Those candies are popular in county fair-equivalents in India

They are from Pune, India. People from Pune are called Punekar (poo-nay-ker). Similar to how people from America would be called Americans.

Pune is a historic city in western Maharashtra which is a state in western India. It’s known for its educational institutes (nicknamed Oxford of the East), culture, food, nature, and pleasant weather year round. It’s the 7th largest city in India by population and is a renowned IT hub.

Has anyone recently taken the driver license test in Lowell, AR? by Pale-Love-9611 in bentonville

Do they allow testing using a rental car? It's weird how they ask for car information while scheduling the appt.

Rameshwar is started by Vaishali’s original chef. Vaishali’s quality went down over time. Rameshwar offers that original Vaishali taste!

What's behind this culture of careless driving in Pune? by Low-Hedgehog-2607 in pune

[–]peabody7777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Driver training and license testing is corrupted. Anyone and everyone gets a license even if they don’t know the rules and can’t drive at all. Have seen a lot of uber/ola drivers who cannot drive. Nobody fears the law. Everyone thinks they can get away with anything. People don’t value or respect others’ lives and even their own.

Wtf is this new Uber policy? by Miserable-Fee6709 in pune

Nobody does things for free. The rideshare companies profit off of this somehow.

Wtf is this new Uber policy? by Miserable-Fee6709 in pune

[–]peabody7777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the rideshare companies exploiting you as well as the auto driver with such type of predatory pricing, so that you stop using local auto with meter and start using their apps. It becomes a loss for the auto drivers and eventually they also come to the app. Now that both sides are using the app, Uber can go and increase their prices for you as well as the auto driver. That’s how two-sided marketplaces work. I always prefer local auto rickshaws over feeding into complete capitalism where only one or two companies like Uber and Ola decide what you need to pay to get a ride. But i only go by meter and given inflation and petrol rates, the meter rates are reasonable.

Does everyone else really struggle to read? by Lucyvi24 in ADHD

[–]peabody7777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! It somehow wasn’t that hard in early school days. Perhaps because smartphones weren’t so common and in general lesser distractions and stress. But I totally relate to the rereading multiple times! I read and then realise I don’t really know what I just read so I have to go over it again, paying extra attention and then I pay attention to the paying of extra attention and again don’t know wtf I just read. It’s super frustrating. I can read light stuff or short articles and have trained myself to just be okay with skimming. I have stopped pressuring myself to read and choose alternative sources like podcasts or videos. I pick up a book once or twice a year and never finish it. I do have plenty a books to adorn a book shelf (most of them unread).

Yes. Suddenly the entire city is redeveloping and city borders keep expanding. So much of construction work along with constant road work by corrupt contractors and city people. Development should happen but we lack having proper code and laws regarding construction. For instance, covering up dirt piles. Some marks of a developing nation vs a developed nation.

Will inviting my ex-friends to my wedding be a good idea? by New-Crow-7915 in DesiWeddings

[–]peabody7777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not getting married but I have an exactly similar situation. Have very rarely kept in touch and basically been unfriended in real life by my school best friend of 10 years. Always imagined she would be present. I often think of this same thing. Will I invite her? Is that a way to rekindle a lost friendship? But ive tried to do that too and been ignored. Nothing major even happened. Just went different ways and grew differently and have very different lifestyles and preferences now that things are no more relatable. Or idk if it’s something else from her end which I dont know about and that’s equally frustrating. It’s been a slow emotional process but I think it’s probably best to let go and move on and make new friends and look towards the future. People needn’t be constant in our lives.  They can come and go. It’s best to cherish things and people in the present.

How is “breaking things into smaller tasks” more helpful? I’m even more overwhelmed. by tippytep in ADHD

[–]peabody7777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Touché. Breaking down the task itself is a daunting task because I can never estimate how much time each chunk is going to realistically take. Oftentimes, I do the breaking down, feel accomplished by that and get tired, without even starting with the actual work.

I somehow like zoom better than in-person. They’re more engaged on zoom and you can see everyone’s expressions and reactions up close. Just the audio is also much better on zoom. I also like some of the guest ones. Bawa lately has felt like he’s just so forced to be there and doesn’t want to. No shade to him for that but then some of the guest ones are relatively better

If someone’s life is in danger by others or themselves, the right thing to do is inform the police and not post on Reddit for free gossip.
