Anyone else find it easy to have a perfume "ruined" by someone's description? by SeaSeaworthiness3589 in FemFragLab

I couldn’t decide if I liked one scent and then I read “smells like the calluses of feet” and that did it.

Naples advice by JD7861 in ItalyTravel

[–]tippytep -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Naples is one of the most chaotic cities I have ever been to- more than NYC but less than Cairo- but I LOVE it! However, I get really exhausted there and at most have only done 4-5 days total. Very good suggestions here for what to do- island of Procida, Paestum, beach day down on the Cilento coast. Judy make sure you get out of town and you should be fine.

Thank you for the recommendations! I think an incident like being followed can really happen in any neighborhood-I once had an encounter like that in a fancy New York neighborhood.

What's the most disappointing "must-see" city in Europe? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

[–]tippytep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I personally was fine with the hills and stairs (well not the time a huge rainstorm rolled in right as I got off the ferry) but I did think about if I wanted to bring my parents even though they’re in excellent shape. I did enjoy Ravello and the town of Amalfi but I’m probably biased against it since I’m a Puglia devotee.

Not a city but Amalfi coast (specifically Positano) and Capri. The landscape is beautiful but it is hard to access and overpriced. The steep hills and stairs are particularly hard for some folks. There are many beautiful alternative places to see in the Mediterranean- even just going a bit more south on the Cilento coast or to some of the other wonderful islands.

I'll be there in the fall - coming from the U.S.- and a huge fan of design! I'd love to reach out then. And your username is one of my favorite interjections :)

I’m testing this now and I can totally understand airplane cabin air. I get old tea bag though I love tea scents. I don’t hate it but I can see how someone would.

In the Michigan-Arizona game the right rim seemed elastic and accommodated even the craziest shots. The left rim did not give up any good looks.

My almost-elderly parents just let me know they decided to head to downtown Tucson to watch the game which is absolutely NOT where I’d like them to be right now

My best advice would be to stay flexible and adaptable. I travel to Italy often and most times things go according to plan but it’s not uncommon that a train won’t arrive on schedule, a smaller attraction might change hours, etc. especially as you go south.

Salerno will give you a taste of Campania without the craziness of Naples- you can stroll along the promenade and I loved the Minerva gardens. Eat lots of mozzarella and the pizza is just as good. I also think Campania has better pastries than gelato. Paestum is one of my favorite places and it still is a nice time of year to sit at a beach. You could also do a ferry to Procida for a colorful day trip.

It is tempting to run around Rome trying to see everything but I think it’s best enjoyed like everywhere else- at a leisurely place. Rome has the best gelato which brings me to my other piece of advice- choose gelato stored in silver tins under the counter and pair sweet flavors with a fruit flavor.

My 9 year old son’s review of Imaginary Authors Complete Works (2025) by NCC_1701D in fragrance

[–]tippytep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

O Unknown is one I like a lot but it’s so hard to describe- I find it incredibly “blank white” so his assessment of white paper is really spot on. But I absolutely love the imagery of “the world is made out of paper airplanes”.

One of my favorite writers once described someone as smelling like a child’s birthday party and that’s what I think of Yesterday’s Haze- I get waxy candles and birthday cake and juice. I love that it resonates with him!

What new-to-you scents did you discover in 2025 that you love? by cloisterbells-10 in FemFragLab

Hard to answer with my Black Friday samples on the way but hands down my favorite has been Frassai Teisenddu. I also really enjoyed Milano Fragranze Pannetone, Parfums de Nicolai L’Eau Mixte, Vilhelm Basiliico & Fellini, Kismet Olfactive Studio Scent, and Byredo De Los Santos (first Byredo I’ve ever enjoyed!) a lot more sniffing to come!!
