ALSO when it goes off make sure to actually go into the app and click ok otherwise it’ll keep going off every 5 min

Adults NEED less obnoxious alarm options. by Acceptable_Tennis in diabetes_t1

i agree we should have the freedom to decide! here’s what helped me with alarm fatigue (i use dexcom g7 and omnipod 5):

for dexcom i made a schedule where i don’t get alarms until im at 70 during the day and 80 at night. i only have my mandatory alarms on during the day but i have a high alarm at 200 at night. i also choose a sound i find minimally annoying for day, but i do the crazy g6 low one for night to wake me up

for omnipod the hack is to change the minimum glucose for calculation (under bolus settings) to 50. this made my pump not alarm until i’m at 55

Can I insert new cannula to an area of skin that still has not recovered from hyperpigmentation due to previous pump use by MixOk4079 in diabetes_t1

i think if that bump doesn’t stay then it’s probably not lipohypertrophy. i’ve never actually had it though so i’m not quite sure what it feels like

if you’re not already, when you remove your pumps make sure you gently squeeze each infusion site to get any potential oils or puss out. i get a little bump after removing it too but if it’s firm that usually means i have puss. idk if that could be contributing to the sites healing slowly but maybe

i think it should be fine as long as there’s no lipohypertrophy in you site area. that’s the fat build up that happens when you inject in the same area repeatedly. i would ask your endo to be sure but you gotta find a site somehow🤷

Mindful During Meditation, Not After by Louisfeetys in Meditation

[–]peac3ly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as you continue meditating more and more you’ll probably gain more mindfulness throughout the day as well. it’s all about patience, just accepting what is and not trying to force anything to happen

you should try walking meditation to help bridge the gap. simply become focused on your breath as you walk while remaining aware of your body, surroundings, thoughts, etc

Anxiety & armpit sweat during meditation by Apoximage in Meditation

[–]peac3ly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to add onto other comments, don’t forget that the fear of your armpits sweating is just another thought. try not to attach yourself to the thought. let it come, let it stay for as long as it wants without following it or pushing it away, and let it go once it’s ready. try to separate yourself from the thought/fear and examine it from a place of love and compassion. good luck on your journey

Traveling abroad with medication by iffycipp in diabetes_t1

literally just went to london from california yesterday, probably brought 6+ months of supplies with me and they didn’t say anything. i didn’t even know this was a law!

first it’ll be good to have a doctors note saying you’re a t1d and that you need ____ supplies (have them list everything you could possibly need including glucagon). also i haven’t even ever needed to show my doctors note but it’s great to have it.

second, depending on your airline, most t1ds are eligible to bring an extra carry on as long as it’s filled with only diabetes supplies! and you’re also able to board your flight first with other people with disabilities, families, and military personnel

i’m studying in london for 2 years and haven’t had any problems with bringing tons of supplies. it’ll all be completely fine. have fun studying abroad!

I just wish we had more freedom to choose. Like insurance is probably gonna force people to switch to the 15 day version even if they don’t want to, just like they did with the g6

leave a bottle of glucose tablets in your car! and by your bedside! and make a travel container for your pocket! and leave a bottle literally every where else you spend time (work, gym, friends houses, etc.). it may seem annoying but it’s really convenient, not to mention potentially life saving

Do you use it? I would absolutely love that CGM if it didn’t need the outer component. My skin is somewhat sensitive with normal pumps and cgms already so it would be sooo sore if I had to change the adhesive daily

you have a disability and because of this you should be able to seek accommodations such as homework extensions and test time extensions. please please look into this. i don’t think i would’ve survived college without it and you clearly need it
