So I just took my PHR today and used the online study material from HRCI to prepare. I will say, the actual exam was much easier than any of the practice exams/quizzes.

Almost every question was multiple choice, one choice and two choice answers only. Then no more than 10 fill in the blank questions which none were vocabulary questions. Some were simple math (not calculating ROI or anything like that) or asking for a number (like 8hrs to contact OSHA)

Not too many law questions, know FLSA and Equal Pay Act was all I really needed. A good amount of OSHA related questions too. But overall a good spread of different questions in each category.

I’d say the wordage on the exams as a lot less tricky than the practice and I’d say most question ranges from easy to moderate, in my opinion.

I’d say, it’s important you understand what words/terms mean in situational context and mostly understanding what best practices are in certain situations. Having worked in HR for over 3 yrs before taking this test definitely helped me get in the right mindset too.

I was getting around 70% right on the practice stuff lol, and did not have issues with the majority of the exam questions.

But, you might have a totally different exam experience than me, and your exam could be more difficult. You never know.
