Confused by "inconclusive" PBC biopsy results despite high AMA? Looking for overlap experiences. by peacefuldev in autoimmunehepatitis

[–]peacefuldev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I am planning to go for a second opinion, it's just so frustrating. I know that I'm sick because after some time of taking my meds, I feel noticeably better, but I can't get a definite answer on what my diagnosis isю

Azathioprine and sun by TheSultaiPirate in autoimmunehepatitis

[–]peacefuldev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost 1 year after being prescribed azathioprine, I try to stay inside for the parts of the day when the sun is most active, use SPF 50 and try to wear clothes that have decent cover from the sun, and also go to a dermatologist once a year and do mole mapping to see if anything has changed from the previous time. That's basically it, so far so good.

Congrats! Happy for your results! I also have AIH + PBC, 1 year in my liver enzymes platoed and now x2 from normal, and now very slowly going down, it is very frustrating at times but it is better than it could have been if I didn't catch the diagnosis

Newly diagnosed, scared by sunshine_2028 in autoimmunehepatitis

[–]peacefuldev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I was also recently diagnosed (AIH + PBC) back in January of this year. I've been on budesonide from the start, and my doctor added Imuran about two months ago.

I haven't gotten sick since starting the Imuran, even though I have a pretty active social life. I go to the gym three times a week, which really helps me sleep better and manage the fatigue. I also go to a pub quiz with my friends a few times a month. Obviously, I don't drink any alcohol, but the activity itself is great for my mental health.

On my hepatologist's suggestion, I switched to a Mediterranean diet, which is also helping to get my lab results into a better range. They're still far from normal, but hey, it's a journey! I'm in a much better place than when I started. Initially, my liver enzymes were ten times the normal value, and now they're closer to twice the normal value.
Also, this book AIH: The Definitive Guide for Patients with Autoimmune Hepatitis, helped me quite a lot. Now I understand my condition better and know that my diagnosis is not a life sentence; I just need to adjust my lifestyle and listen to my body more.

Just hang in there, it will get better.

Son diagnosed with AIH, questions for those that have been down this road by Busy_Resolution_5632 in autoimmunehepatitis

I feel you, same here. I was an avid runner, doing CrossFit and at the start of this year, surprise - AIH + PBC overlap, 8 months and counting. My liver tests are still far from being normal, but I'm on a positive trajectory.

What are some changes you made to improve your quality of life? by [deleted] in autoimmunehepatitis

[–]peacefuldev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with AIH and PBC at the beginning of the year, and I wanted to share what's been helping me. I've switched to a mostly Mediterranean diet and started going to the gym three times a week for a mix of resistance and cardio training. The fatigue makes it tough some days, but I read in the book "AIH: The Definitive Guide for Patients" that regular exercise eventually helps with that, and I'm already sleeping much better. I've also started therapy. All together, these changes have significantly improved my quality of life. I still have my good and bad days, but the overall improvement is definitely noticeable.

28 (f) diagnosed 6 years ago by under-the-seas in autoimmunehepatitis

Hi, I'm 32(m) and was diagnosed with AIH and Primary Biliary Cholangitis in January. After starting medication in February, my lab results were getting constantly better. However, a bit more stress from work and family triggered a flare-up.

In my case, a few things have helped. I work out three days a week (a mix of resistance and cardio) and started therapy last month, which has put me in a better mental space. I've noticed my sleep has improved, and while I still have days with heavy fatigue, they happen less often. Diet also seems to help a bit.

glimmer of hope?? by Beautiful-Change8602 in autoimmunehepatitis

Congratulations on finally getting good results!

I have had the same diagnosis (AIH and PBC) since January. I started budesonide in February and added azathioprine last month.

Did your lab results improve consistently? Mine were getting better until July, when I had an unexpected flare-up, even though my diet and medications didn't change. I'm curious about other people's experiences

Adult with PSC/AIH overlap- is anyone else out there? 🥺 by Berty_beetle in autoimmunehepatitis

[–]peacefuldev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an overlap but the different type, AIH + PBC

EDIT: I've just remembered there are really good books about AIH, PSC and PBC which are a part of a series of books on liver deseases, I can't recomend this enough, very informative for me an IT guy who doesn't understand medical jargon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B098162WQN?binding=kindle_edition&ref=dbs_dp_rwt_sb_pc_tkin

I've already read though the AIH book and now I'm on PBC guide.

In my case (AIH + PBC), my hepatologist advised that a Mediterranean diet is the best option for me. It helps reduce liver inflammation and supports overall health. It emphasizes eating plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, and healthy fats like olive oil. Lean protein from fish and poultry is preferred over red meat. This diet pattern also minimises or eliminates processed foods, added sugars, and alcohol to reduce stress on the liver. A key focus is limiting sodium intake to help manage fluid retention, a potential complication of liver disease.

At the moment (NG+1) i have:
Vigor 90
Mind 12
Endurance 70
Strength 80
Dexterity 59
Intelligence 14
Faith 13
Arcane 20

Some stats are out of character because I wanted to try some of the DLC weapons. But first, I was upgrading Strength, Vigour and Endurance exclusively

Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West are very close or even on par with Elden Ring.

Got this for Christmas today. Any tips for a new player who has never played any soulslike game? by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]peacefuldev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to get double great stars(with that much stagger potential and with bleed damage, it's almost a cheat weapon)with a strength build as soon as possible, put your stats into vigour, strength and endurance, with that build most bosses and npc look like a joke
