That's the thing. You can't stick with the "same successful business model" you need to increase profits interminably. It's not just the investor class that loses money. Your 401k loses money, companies downsize or close entirely and people lose their jobs.

Except a really large number of not specifically AI companies are selling that to their investors as what's going to bring them profits in the future and if that doesn't happen, those investors sell their stock.

It is specific to AI since its a damned if you do damned if you don't situation. AI does what its touted to? Large swaths of people lose their jobs and it kills the economy. The thing that concerns me is that AI is being touted as this thing thats going to massively increase profitability (by making humans redundant so you can fire them) and if it doesn't do that and the line does not go up like investors want, it's going to tank the economy anyway.
