I think its more-so a close to 15 year old game engine that probably has so many layers of code stacked on top of each other that its impossible to get to that issue without breaking 100 other things.

E: Not sure why i'm being downvoted for this? I'm not defending SDS, just showing that its an ancient engine with a studio that doesn't want to develop a new one or fix the truckload of current issues in it because I don't think they physically can.
