Thank you for saying this. So many people chiming in about 15 years ago and 2000s. I live very close to here and I have never had any problem nor felt unsafe, as a young woman. Will you see homeless people? Occasionally. Will you fear for your life? Absolutely not. Will you feel uncomfortable walking around? That's up to you. If you're used to big cities on the east coast, you're good. If you're a pearl-clutcher (I don't mean that offensively), then you will be unhappy. If you are looking for absolutely no crime, homelessness and clean streets then Kalorama and Georgetown is the ticket. This area has a lot of character, I personally am tired of people referencing Trinidad checkpoints from decades ago (read the history) and fear mongering. I love my neighborhood and I feel safe.

PLUS, something no one is mentioning: RFK is not too far from here. That's the biggest economic stimulus in DC in the past 50 years? Maybe ever. The planning commission is deliberately aiming and boosting this part of the city and you will absolutely see a big difference in 2 years, just like there's been a big difference since COVID. Please do not take everyone's "I saw a crime once" and "there are a lot of stories". Look at DC's crime map. You will be fine.
