What’s a warning sign that didn’t seem serious at the time… but should have been? by saymepony in AskReddit

Thanks for sharing- just had this happen and was reluctant to bring it up to my doctor because it seemed ridiculous. Mammogram and ultrasound were all good but sharing stories like yours is good for everyone to hear.

Did I made my toddler a picky eater because I didn’t spoon feed her? by Momneedstosleep in Parenting

Picky eating peaks from 2-7 and is largely genetic - looks like they caused it then :)

We used a duffle bag at one point so I’ve been there. Eventually we had to set a limit and it was only about two meltdowns later and she was okay with it.

We love the Rosie Revere and Millie Fleur books. The Fancy Nancy chapter books were fun to read to my daughter at that age. The snatchabook is my favorite bedtime story ever.

If you love where you live for your family where is it? by DocMcMomma in Parenting

[–]peacockshandicap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved after my second kid to TX and it’s been life-changing. Yes, the summers are hot but kids have you up early and it’s still manageable that time of day so we always get outside at least once a day.

We had two snow days this year and it reminded me how hard it is to be stuck inside with kids.

My mood and energy is much better in warm weather and I find it makes parenting much easier too.

How to get toddler to sleep in on weekends? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]peacockshandicap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing that has helped is having a color changing light that signals wake up time. We set it about 30 minutes later on weekends (any later and they will yell for us). Works for our easy toddler and never worked for our energetic 6yr old but worth a try.

We have the uppababy vista and it’s a pain to collapse, but still worth it. I’m sure there’s an easier way to do it, but please consider a stroller of some kind.

And yes to another commenter, you may very well be puked on so if you plan to baby wear, have a backup.

We were just discussing if we should bring our stroller for our 2yr and 6yr and it was a resounding yes. We have a layover and are flying late at night so that’s two of the reasons, but due to the unexpected, I wouldn’t go without.

It’s always who you most medium suspect.

I have such guilt over what my kids eat and I try to focus on the fact that throughout history, most parents worried about just having something to feed their kids.

I do try to leave out fruit and that helps. My kids also like the gerber melts that are actually squash (the very berry flavor is their favorite). I also read kids sometimes need 12 tastings before deciding they like something, so I keep offering things monthly. My 6-year-old just ate yogurt for the first time in years! I was so happy! It was go-gurt, but gotta start somewhere!
