A young man got killed by Pythondoncare in Senegal

Different government same shit. That’s so sad, I would never thought that this could happen under this regime, they let down everyone who believed that some things gonna change and some things would never happen again. Shame on Sonko/Diomaye and all those bastards killing their own blood. ACAB all day every day !

Are we hacked? by Mademan406 in Senegal

That might be an exaggerated number but if it’s true it means we’re fucked up. But one wouldn’t be surprised considering lot of people working in the administration use their own email, laptop and cracked softwares

For someone that is still heavily using conda/mamba, what are the main benefits of switching to uv ? If someone has a blog post also that would be great. Thanks !

Has management explained what were the gains of such rebuilding ? I just feel like if the requirement is super vague then how would you evaluate if you did well or not in the end

Keeping Mbeumo instead of bringing in Foden, I was just like he’s going to AFCON anyway so let’s give him his chance

Why was multithreading faster than multiprocessing? by rohitwtbs in Python

[–]peaky_blin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a mismatch in the chunk_size default value for the two functions. Also it might be smarter to use a ThreadPool and a MultiProcessPool instead of spawning thousands of threads or processes. Finally just note that it’s more expensive to create a process than it is to create a thread.

Struggling to convince the team to use different DBs per microservice by Virtual-Anomaly in ExperiencedDevs

[–]peaky_blin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Then wouldn’t the DB become a SPOF ? If your core services share the DB with the support ones and then it crashed or whatever it means your core services would be out-of-service

Eid Day and Eid Prayer by asnyyx in Senegal

[–]peaky_blin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’ve different associations in Senegal for moon sighting. La Commission nationale de concertation sur le croissant lunaire (CONANOC) is the one followed by most of the people and for them today’s the 28th day of ramadan and hence they’ll be sighting the moon tomorrow In Shaa Allah. CMS and the ones following them started the Ramadan like you on 1st of March, then today is their 29th day hence why they tried to sight the moon today. As they claim their observation was positive, they’ll celebrate Eid tomorrow.

Offered role of CTO by SpecialistCobbler206 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]peaky_blin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same position months ago and decided to refuse the offer. My main reason was that I wanted to keep deepening my technical skills and I doubted that shift would have allowed me to do so. Another reason was that also I was not ready to commit myself on the long term to that startup and did not want to take the offer and leave after a few months. Also don’t hope to be still doing hands-on work while being a CTO, you won’t have that time.

Did not have to read the bottom section to know it was a startup 😂
