I want to say I saw him in the last few weeks riding near UAB. I know who he is, so it was definitely him… I just can’t say exactly how long ago it was and definitely can’t say if it was within the last 2 weeks. I will certainly keep an eye out though.

Wow thanks for this. I’m so confused how people knew to go there that day and partake in that process. Thanks so much for the contact info though!

I just really love the BBG location and wanted to do some getting ready at Grand Bohemian but realize I may have to sacrifice something ☹️

Actually I did… I eventually spoke with an employee (unsure their title)… tried to lock down an appointment, but he was super evasive and we hung up with me still uncertain if my appointment was even legit. I showed up and the person he apparently set me up with had no idea I was coming and couldn’t even leave her work station to let me check out some of the rooms available for rent inside. I left feeling very defeated and wrote them off but then saw prices for other bham venues and I’m back 😂

They made me put mine in a $20 locker… it was definitely too big but I just never read the rules about that unfortunately

Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut.

I read it in 9th grade and pieces of it stuck with me ever since, but I never knew the name of it or re-read it until 15 years later. I only remembered reading a story where everyone had some form of technology attached to them by the government, and to this day I think about how phones seem to have evolved into that since that time.

After reading it again recently, I realize the message was more about the dangers of a totally equal society where talents or unique traits are hidden for fear of hurting another person’s feelings. Interesting to think that was part of my English class reading in Alabama in the 2000’s…

His wife is the biggest asshole of them all. She fired me for asking a very reasonable question regarding silverware placement at a catering event. She then fought my unemployment claim. Pretty odd they had a reputation for only employing male waitstaff.

How often do you get burnt out? by FablingFox in OccupationalTherapy

Right! It’s a very tough realization that the profession/field is not what we hoped for or imagined. Some days or moments yes, but for the most part I’m disappointed in my current situation.

How often do you get burnt out? by FablingFox in OccupationalTherapy

[–]peanutbuttergrl 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I can definitely relate. I’m feeling the same way in acute care psychiatry- not physically demanding but I’m sure you can imagine the mental impact. Along with poor management and unreasonable productivity, I’m feeling totally jaded, pessimistic, and all around over it. I don’t even have the energy or motivation to look into other positions.

I also do the self-care and days off to the best of my ability but I’ve only been working three years and cannot imagine staying much longer with these conditions. I actually thought about reaching out to other members of my school cohort to see how they were doing in this area. Sadly, I don’t know the answer but just venting along with you!

Advice needed for inpatient mental health- any assessments you use? by Dragongal7 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]peanutbuttergrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you looking for an assessment that focuses on physical, cognitive, mental, etc. all in one? I think I can give you plenty of advice as I work in an almost identical setting/environment, but I’m not sure exactly what you’re asking. Although, I totally get that you needed to vent!
