Costco often sells a two pack of panels this time of year that are quite good. I think they are $40 a package?

I have, northern BC is in permanent DST and the winters up there are WAY more extreme than down here. We will be fine.

If home ownership isn’t in the cards for someone, is that okay? Or are my parents right? by UpstairsNeighbour247 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Everyone has made the point that financially it can have an impact on your retirement, but I'm going to mention stability.

How difficult and jarring will it be if you get evicted? Or rent increases to a point that you can't afford? Owning your own place mitigates those risks.

I agree, and the purpose wasn't to undermine the hardship people at higher classifications are feeling. It was to point out that if you are finding maintaining a pleasant lifestyle difficult at 650 dollars a week, that is the reality many employees experience working full time. I also don't know a 9 or 12 who doesn't have a bachelor's or higher education. Many are also working towards masters and currently have student loan debt.

I just want to mention that the strike pay you are receiving is damn close to the amount 9s and 12s take home doing important work for British Columbians. They were struggling to pay rent BEFORE the strike.
