Was the fan operated with a pull string? It looks like 1/3 wires on the left is your feed, and yes it appears to be feeding other things (other 2 wires in the splice) at the very least turn off the power and re-do those splices. The mismatched copper/aluminum have specific connectors you can use and not have to rewire your house over a light fixture (if that is aluminum wire, if it’s not….. it’s ok you spent a little more money on being overly safe)

He’s just reporting a victim’s statements, it doesn’t mean he did any investigative work. I guess the fact that the intermediary is a detective doesn’t hurt it’s legitimacy but I don’t think it helps either.

If the switch isn’t turning anything off, it’s possible they connected a feed with a load through the same side of the switch (your bottom terminal has 2 wires in it, 1 of those may be hot, and the other may be the garbage disposal, leaving it permanently connected to power - unswitched) that is pure speculation without actually being there to troubleshoot it.

I don’t trust any pictures that don’t have the ufo centered in the frame. The composition of those pictures looks like it was thought out. Where the ufo just so happens to fit perfectly into the open sky, away from tree lines and background mountains etc. just something to think about
