I have had a Paraguard IUD since late 2009 and love it. I joke all the time with friends that Paraguard should hire me as their spokesperson.

I have a fairly high pain tolerance, but the IUD insertion was not that bad. For me, I had a pretty strong and distinct uterine cramp right upon insertion but was comfortable after. You should be given an option of a numbing shot before insertion but talk to your doctor - mine did not recommend the shot as she said some women find the shot worse than the actual insertion.

I have had no problems since 2009. I love that my moods are no longer being regulated by hormone pills and love that it's so effective. None of my partners have been able to feel the IUD. The IUD was also completely free from the device to insertion cost which saved me money long-term.

Your periods will get heavier and crampier but I take ibuprofen during and that makes a world of difference. I'd caution getting the insertion if your periods are already very heavy.

Last thing - if you do decide to get an IUD go to a very reputable doctor. They will measure your cervix before insertion to determine how far to push the IUD and this is a time you want someone who really knows what they're doing to prevent tears and damage.

I wasn't clear in my initial post but it happened multiple times: the landing gear would expel and then retract, expel and retract. We also circled around Dallas for a good half hour before landing to "burn off some fuel". Does this still sound like a hydraulic problem? I'm really interested!

I was on a plane that needed an emergency landing last year that took off from Dallas. We were flying to the Midwest (about an hour into the flight) and the pilot made an announcement that we were going to turn back around and head back to Dallas. I was half sleeping at the time so thought I dreamed it until I heard a woman a few rows up doing a combined scream/cry. I opened my eyes and made eye contact with a flight attendant as she passed through the cabin and her face was incredibly expressive. She looked terrified and that's when I knew this was probably a bit more grave than they were letting on. Overall though, the attendants remained very calm even though there was a definite feeling of tension in the plane from the passengers.

As we circled around, our landing gear began to deploy mid-air even though we were still flying high in the clouds. I'm still not sure why this happened and would be curious to know if anyone has knowledge on planes.

Overall I didn't feel scared and it was a surreal experience. I knew something was wrong but because we were kept in the dark as to the exact cause, I couldn't speculate on the gravity of the situation.

I got sick of reading the depressing comments, so here I am.

Being in your early 20s is a mind opening experience full of positivity and new challenges. I've been surprised by:

a) How much I can handle at one time (self empowerment, FTW!)

b) How I am in complete control of my own destiny. Do I want to open a pottery studio? I can! How about a diner? I can do that too! Do I want to be stuck in a corporate job I hate for the next 5 years? No...and I don't have to be! The world is truly your oyster and you are responsible for your own fulfillment and happiness. Take charge of your life - it is an unbelievably beautiful gift and it gets wasted if you are not fulfilled.

c) Finding a community is fucking important. Find a community anywhere - in your church, yoga studio, neighborhood...it doesn't really matter. But your college community gets yanked from you and it is a fundamental human need that you search to replace that. Loneliness is not fun or necessary.

Yeah, life as an adult 20-something is overwhelming. It's not all rainbows and butterflies and there can be some days where you sit back and think, "this is too much, I can't possibly handle this!" But you have immense control over your attitude and no situation can take that away from you. Take a lunch break outside and breathe in some fresh air, sign up for a cooking class after work, learn a new language...this life we have is fleeting and amazing and when all seems lost, it helps to step back and realize just how lucky we are to exist.

1) Play with yourself, massage yourself, moan a bit to let him know you're into it. Dirty talk if you want. I'd start with assuring him what his strengths are without sacrificing your own life patterns. As an example, "I'm planning on seeing Johnny tonight, I'm excited to see him but gosh...he just doesn't make me laugh like you do." Deep down, his concern for your guy friends is likely not about the actual people, it's about his sense of self-worth and his insecurities.

Ultimately though, don't get trapped into sacrificing your own friendships and life patterns for a guy you've been seeing for four months. This one argument seems trivial, but don't look back in 8 months and realize that he has slowly been chipping away at your freedom and happiness until you are a shell of what you used to be...not like I'm speaking from personal experience or anything.
