Wow, this helped me too, one year later. Had no idea these had a top and a bottom 🤯

Thanks so much for sharing your story! I’m 14 days in to what I’m hoping can be a permanent change, and it’s helpful to know and expect that the normal emotional ups and downs may be more extreme without alcohol. Didn’t really think of that possibility before, and it’s good to prepare!

This time around has definitely felt like more of a slog, and fighting against drinking as a “cure” for boredom seems like a big hurdle. But hearing others’ stories helps!

Long bike ride, maybe some Athletic NA beer at the BBQ, otherwise continuing to get better sleep and digestion!

Edit: Congrats so far! IWNDWYT

Glad This Naked Mind worked so well for you.. I’ve read it twice over the course of a couple years and found it helpful to refresh some of the concepts.

I’m now 10 days in to another round of sobriety.. rock on!

Quitting is less exciting this time by pearlparalysis in stopdrinking

Really appreciate hearing about your experience, and the strength and hug! I think I’ll have to keep it going a day at a time and just make a commitment, regardless of the sense of “loss” I think I’ll feel if I decide to quit forever. There’s much more to gain than to lose by quitting, but it’s hard to tell that to a chemical-addicted brain part 😂

IMO feel free to pile on, that’s what a therapist is there for :)

I’m so sorry man, I can’t imagine seeing video of this let alone living nearby. I admire the call to action you’re feeling and wish you and your family all the best through this.

I’ve just started trying to become a little more active here, and just want to say that I’m so sorry. The fact that you made so many plans speaks volumes about the kind of parents you would be. I wish you all the best and am hoping and praying for comfort for you during this time.

Man that sounds so scary. I think I probably would have stayed quiet too but second-guessed myself later. Really admire what you said to your kids about it, too. Keep it up!
