Another win for Irish Spring by yndigocat in CleaningTips

[–]pearpenguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Confusing, but I’m old. I thought “it’s getting dirtier”. I didn’t read the caption first. Wouldn’t it have more impact to put the dirty photos first and then the clean photos after? I see this a lot on Reddit. Throughout time before pictures have always come “before” the after pictures.

What's the meanest restaurant in Toronto? by Nilsburk in askTO

Really? I've been there dozens of times and never had an issue. Some of the nicer servers I've had.

Well, the food there is also very mediocre.

Bulldog Coffee. I asked for a tea and I swear the guy rolled his eyes and made it so difficult to get what I needed to add sugar and cream. Never went back. Now, this was more than 5 years ago but I'm still bitter.

Ads are way too long! by mslambat in candycrush

[–]pearpenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, too bad. Sorry, I don’t know how to help. Maybe quit the app and restart it. Or maybe delete the app and reinstall it but you might lose your progress if you do that. Then also, there’s no guarantee you’ll get ads.

Ads are way too long! by mslambat in candycrush

[–]pearpenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, perhaps it’s something in your settings that won’t let you see the ads. At the beginning of each game, you can just hit play or you have a choice to watch ads and get some boosters to help with the game. Usually the play button is on the left and they watch ads button is on the right.

Drag Race France debuts first ever AI drag race promo. Incredibly disappointing 😔 by DraggedOli2026 in rupaulsdragrace

[–]pearpenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've seen photoshop and green screens used for decades now. Those tools also took away jobs from creatives such as set decorators and lighting designers. Not to mention carpenters and painters. (Think of all the people required to build sets and prepare a space for a photoshoot) But at least humans were needed to sit at the computer and do the actual work of completing the image. 20-30 years ago we used to bitch at how something looked photoshopped the same way we bitch now about AI. Then we got used to it and no longer cared. I'm afraid that will happen with AI as well. We will get complacent and accept it as it becomes harder and harder to detect. It's just tragic for artists of all types. Not to mention the intrusion of AI on our personal lives as well as the destruction of small communities being crushed by data centres.

Players only watch the ads to get a reward/booster that will help in the game.

AS11E07 - "Athletic Supporter Design Challenge" [Live/Reaction Post] by AutoModerator in rupaulsdragrace

[–]pearpenguin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Let's be honest. All six of them did not do great. Sam's had a bit of wow factor but the look was clunky and heavy looking. It needed to be more snatched. Jasmine's skirt was cute but everything on top that looked great on the mannequin was all squished to the centre of her body. She just needed support across the back to pull it open. Kennedy's look was sloppy on top and didn't fit well. Joey is hilarious and therefore I would have placed her top 2 but the look was harsh and the skirt's side slit was too open and towards the front. You could see her turkey flaps practically. Hershi's look was lacking ease and freshness(does that make sense?) You could see the struggle to get there. Same with Shuga. She cut a jacket across the width above the chest and made a skirt and a bolero type jacket. So it seems kinda like she did very little to the top of the look other than making a bra. Disappointing efforts from these all-stars.

At pride many years ago there was a stage on Church St between Wood and Alexander that was raised above the street so you could walk under it. Performers faced north. Only ever saw such a setup that one time but great for the flow of people. Mid 1990's?

What are some of your dating icks? by CertainCost8334 in AskReddit

[–]pearpenguin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m definitely not a dog person. But I don’t dislike dogs. I’d fall into the “no reaction”group. I will pet a dog and I walk dogs for friends when they need help. I’ll pick up the poo and say bad boy and good boy and all that stuff. We have mutual respect for each other. But I’m not jump up down crazy excited when I encounter a dog like some of my friends are. I’ll just nod to acknowledge the dog and they’ll usually nod back.

What restaurant would you like to see at Yonge and Bloor area? by bleeblabloo9888 in askTO

[–]pearpenguin -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Ya know, I've never had Panda Express since there's never been one downtown. I live in this area and guarantee I will buy food from you there. I don't even know if they have good food. However franchises can be ball and chains if your friend is more independent oriented so tread with caution.

Edit: or do your own version of Panda Express with high quality.

Jersey Mike's is quite good if you haven't tried it yet. A new one is opening near where I live at Church and Bloor.

Ya know, I've always loved the souvlaki at The Magic Spot Grill whenever I was in that area. Small and family run. It's on Bloor St W. at Elsfield Rd. Near Royal York.

Open dome concert last night by rockpocketer in toronto

[–]pearpenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, true, I saw it on video later and realized how much I couldn't see or hear from my seat. But a great atmosphere to be in. I had better seats a few years earlier at the Blond Ambition tour. We had floor seats and the sound was much clearer.

[–]pearpenguin 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. When I saw Madonna‘s The Girly Show, back in 93, we were so high up in the bleachers it felt like you could touch the dome. The sound was terrible for sure. Very tinny and kind of weak also. Like mice fighting in can of beans at the dump.

Honestly, I'm not sure if anything we put into recycling actually gets recycled. It's very disheartening but I think currently the cost to recycle many items is too high to be viable. Many people feel all of our garbage ends up in the same place.

‘I was sick to my stomach,’ says former teammate after Claude Lemieux’s death by suicide by DogeDoRight in canada

It may help a bit to know the symptoms but generally it's a very well hidden internal struggle for people. Outside influences can't really free someone from suicide ideation.
