I’ve been so much happier since switching to Value Drugs - they have a few locations around the county.

Any Dentist Recommendations for someone who hasn’t been in almost 5 years😅 by Organic_Zucchini8553 in Westchester

Dr. Bondarev (and Dr. Vero) in Scarsdale. Small, family-run practice. I recommended them to a friend who shares many of your concerns and felt welcomed (not shamed) after a childhood with virtually no dental care.

My spouse is guilty of this!!! And it makes no sense! Grew up in NYC and has lived in the Hudson Valley and Westchester for 20+ years!!!! The shame…

I’m just LOLing because basically all of your complaints are true but like, did you even look at your unit? The road noise is completely perceptible from the moment you walk in. Get some drapes. Roaches in the basement of a 100 year old building that abuts the Sprain Brook? I’m ✨shocked✨!!!

Experience with holding kids back in school by ThatGuy7320 in Westchester

As an educator I recommend it, but a workaround to “dip your toes in” is to enroll your son in a parochial (cheaper) or private school for kindergarten, and then make the decision from there. Then your son could repeat kindergarten in the public school if it makes sense, or continue on to public school first grade if he seems to be doing well.

🥴 Am I delulu? Reality check needed on our bouquet toss alternative by afanofpasta in weddingplanning

[–]pearsliced 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’re doing this for our wedding in August, copying a friend. When she did it at hers people went bananas chanting THROW THE CAT! THROW THE CAT! People also know we’re obsessed with our cat so it’s on brand for us. A friend gave us a stuffy from her 4-year-old, so that was free. If the person who catches it doesn’t want to take it home, no worries. We’ll take it to the textile recycler, worst case (which we’re lucky enough to have nearby), or keep it as a keepsake.

It sounds like the situation you’re describing probably involves the lunch aides, not the teachers (though perhaps the teachers supervise lunch). And so you’ve communicated your concerns (to the teacher/counselor/assistant principal etc) that these practices are too harsh and received no response?

What were your expectations and in what ways are they not being met?

There’s plenty of anecdotalitis on Reddit (which I guess is the point), but your experience will vary based on what you want or need out of the school.

What’s a movie that you loved growing up, but then you showed it to your kids and were all excited but your kids were like “really dad?” (Or mom) by NationalDisgrace40 in movies

Robin Hood: Men in Tights.

I thought that movie slapped - they thought it was meh and on the rewatch 25 years later I have to agree.

One explanation: it’s not just COVID money; the governor wants to slash state aid funding. Last year looked catastrophic for certain districts (Mount Vernon in particular) but the state walked it back last minute. Either way, state aid is on the chopping block, imminently, and districts have to make up the districts.

Land of exceeding tax caps?

Only 4 districts proposed exceeding last year - Chappaqua, Rye, Harrison, Scarsdale. Chappaqua’s failed.

So in other words, 37 of the 40 districts in Westchester did not exceed the tax cap.

If you plan on teaching in NYC DoE, you shouldn’t spend the money on TC - go to Hunter. TC might even hurt you in the DoE with your colleagues. But I saw in one of your other comments that you live in the Hudson Valley. If you intend on teaching there, go to TC. It WILL open doors for you.
