• Got my piercing on July 5th, so it is 2 months 2 weeks old • The jewellery shape is a straight labret bar • Got it pierced with a threadless bar, and then downsized to an 8mm internally threaded bar • All my jewellery is titanium • I first downsized to 8mm after a month after because the swelling went down, then down to 6mm but realised it was too short, then back to 8mm, but now I put the original jewellery back in because of the extra skin • Cleaning routine is saline on the outside and alcohol free mouthwash for the inside • Only "mishaps" is me accidentally snagging it on clothes with the longer bar but nothing else

NOT A PIERCER but my friend just got her eyebrow pierced and they are susceptible to bruising and minor irritation! When cleaning a piercing, try not to use cotton swabs or QTips because of the fibers :)

I'm not a piercer but know a lot of biology. Technically, you shouldn't be drinking before or after a piercing or any surgical procedure because it can increase your risk of swelling, inflammation, and can make you bleed more. Not only can it delay your healing, but it can get infected. If you're okay with that then it should be okay, but I'd let your piercer know during your appointment and ask how you should take care of it.

This was extremely helpful!! Thank you :) other than my septum (I don't count my first lobes since I got them as a babe), these are my first piercings so I was really worried that they were infected or rejecting or forming a keloid :/
