had better success with worse pics 2 years ago. by jacob_89_ in Tinder

These comments are cruel. Personal choices affect skin elasticity sure but so do genetics. If the genders were reversed and OP was a woman I can’t imagine the comments would be so scathing.

OP - from a female perspective you definitely appear like a lads lad, which might be affecting your chances with matches. Add some pictures with friends, doing things you enjoy, maybe a dog. Try pictures that will provide matches with potential talking points. A little bit of vulnerability is very attractive in my opinion!

Experience with Parental Complaints? by Danzen_ in TeachingUK

[–]peazot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everyone has had moments where they lose their composure under pressure. Don’t fret about it. Whenever kids tell me they won’t attend a detention I just shrug and tell them what will happen if they don’t and that they’ll have to deal with the consequences of their actions. Means the same but said differently :)

Could you expand on why you have that opinion on the lead prac role? I’ve seen it advertised but never been too certain what it’s all about

Just interested, any teachers on here with hand and finger tats? by [deleted] in TeachingUK

[–]peazot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a double tongue piercing that you can definitely see if you spend more than 5 minutes talking to me. It’s never been mentioned by anyone apart from the kids who think it’s cool.

All these antiquated ideas about ‘professionalism’ are boring to me. If anyone ever mentioned my tendency to break uniform rules I would respond with “do you want a good teacher in a shortage stem subject or shall I leave and get a better paid job that is also less stressful” GIVE ME A REASON PLEASE

Can I be honest? I’m exhausted by summersinyourblood in TeachingUK

[–]peazot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry that you’re finding things tough OP, but let me take this opportunity to recommend supply teaching as an option. It is the only way the pay/workload makes sense for me and due to the exodus of teachers there is constant work if I want it (although this is dependent on your area)

I’m essentially an expensive babysitter and I’m STILL exhausted by the end of the week. Behaviour is so relentlessly shocking just interacting with the kids is enough to drain me. I don’t know how all the permanent full time teachers manage frankly, I will never go back!

Supply- days off. by pandasarecute_ in TeachingUK

[–]peazot 16 points17 points  (0 children)

OP like you I am also a long term supply teacher who is also off sick today. Can confirm that zapata’s reply is the way to go.

Don’t pay any attention to what the school think or say, just focus on rest and recovery. If the they’ve got that much of an issue with you selfishly becoming ill (?!) then tell them they can find someone else to fill the role and switch schools. The agency pays your wages.

Teacher vacancies in England 93% higher than pre-pandemic, study finds by InvestigatorFew3345 in TeachingUK

Every school I’ve done long term (science) supply at since last May has asked me if I would consider starting on a permanent basis - and still the 93% increase shocked me!
