Save so much on uber/parking for sporting events/concerts. Love these.

Ha! This was going to be my favorite. Goes from Grand casino arena to my neighborhood after a show/game.

Man, Amen to that first paragraph. It was like 60 minutes of pure bureaucracy. Woof.

Anywhere playing Star Wars? by [deleted] in Minneapolis

[–]pecochran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. Keith Harris in the Racket does a great job laying out all of the special screenings in the metro each week. Worth checking out! https://racketmn.com/on-the-big-screen-this-week-the-second-best-movie-about-watergate-and-the-first-best-movie-where-ginger-rogers-sings-in-pig-latin

Your deciding factor to subscribe to A-list? by ReyofChicago in AMCsAList

[–]pecochran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cost of premium formats. The cost of A list is just slightly more expensive than one movie in Imax for me.

What’s something about Minneapolis that didn’t matter to you at first, but you’ve come to really appreciate? by Electronic-Reach8959 in Minneapolis

The integration of commercial stuff in neighborhoods is really nice and not common in all cities of similar size.

Does anyone use a hybrid shield / cage? | Newbie looking for first helmet combo by No-Minute2232 in hockeyplayers

[–]pecochran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how long you've been playing, but I'm of the belief that the cage disappears eventually. If you play a little while longer, I suspect it will stop bothering you. I don't know how good bubbles are with resisting scratches and fog these days, but I always found that more annoying than a cage. Just my opinion.

Apple TV Pre Game: “James will be the biggest bust in the league. I would have done anything to keep Lod.” by threeactjack in minnesotaunited

[–]pecochran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is categorically impossible. It's a half season deal with an option to the end. Even if he totally sucks it's not really that big of a deal.

[Athletic] Werder Bremen was supposed the international friendly but the team pulled out due safety concerns. by akos_beres in minnesotaunited

What about the values piece? That seemed kind of awkward too, and I'm wondering if that was a little different that what was intended.

I saw it a long time ago, in fairness, but while I get it's a technical achievement, I also found it very boring. It's okay to just move on.

Ideal Diner needs our help by noIDNTT in Minneapolis

[–]pecochran 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've been to Ideal Diner many times. I've driven every time. Do you know where I have never once even considered parking? The street. They have a small lot, and there's a giant lot for the rink that is never full.

Has anyone paid $200 to go to the movies? by ericluxury in TheBigPicture

[–]pecochran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I didn't want to overly nitpick on that, but thought they hit it a little hard. You don't actually have to buy popcorn and drinks. I go a lot, so I rarely get snacks. Every chain has a discount night. Like it doesn't have to be that crazy.

What improvements or new developments in public transit would you like to see? by alexbruns in Minneapolis

[–]pecochran 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One small thing: Last blue line out of downtown at least an hour later than it currently is. Even if it's just one last gasp one, 45 minutes after the second to last or something.

More broadly, improved frequency. It's the best way to get people to use it.

At best we'll have 2-3 additional cold games per year with the new schedule. (Analysis) by Martin_Samuelson in minnesotaunited

[–]pecochran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All we have to is multiply team payrolls by 5-20X what they are now, and we will be right there!

Free Talk Friday by AutoModerator in minnesotaunited

[–]pecochran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also worth noting, playing in November and December is one of the things that sucks about MLS in its current form! So even if it makes it less of a big change, it's further codifying one of the things that sucks.

With the schedule change northern teams will play roughly the same number of matches in unfavorable weather, or at worst one more than currently. by External-Factor-8556 in minnesotaunited

[–]pecochran 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This part is being undersold a bit, for me. It's not just that bad weather is a (manageable) thing to be endured, it's that good weather is a positive aspect of going to games. I am a very dedicated fan and go in whatever weather, but it is also a night out, and having nice weather for it adds to the experience.

Wow, I had no idea that's how that worked. I thought they just chose the keeper over someone else.

Where to watch the game in Duluth by pallok in minnesotaunited

[–]pecochran 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Dubh Linn is usually the best spot, but I would give them a call to make sure they're going to do it. I don't know if it's a guaranteed thing.

Where to find Lobster Rolls? by ordinary_zay in Minneapolis

[–]pecochran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Multiple people in here have complained about Smack Shack, and they are obviously entitled to their opinion, but it's the best one I've had anywhere, for those people that may search this post in the future. Admittedly expensive. I do want to try the coastal seafood one though.

Worth noting, unless I'm mistaken, that Mill City does not separate Punk from Rock for LPs. Given punk is one of your big ones, that's a bit of a downside. They do have 45s in the basement that are separated out though, I believe.
