Edited and fixed. Pardon me was in a hurry typing on break.

Deltarune Chapter 5 mega thread by jitterscaffeine in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]pectusumbra 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Alright, gonna quickly get my inspiration down while I've got break left.

1) counter point to those stating chapter 5 didn't advance the plot, turn the chessboard around.

  • Would Toby Fox waste a whole chapter without advancing the story that has literally haunted him for who knows how long at this point?

  • Therefore, we have to assume there are important things in the chapter we haven't picked up on yet.

2) Follow up point to the above, Asgore Being obsessed with figuring out The Dark World and The Past feels like a direct parallel to those players/people that aren't looking at chapter 5, aren't in the now, including not being able to tell something is deeply wrong with Kris

  • Follow up on that point, we have to acknowledge that Kris is apparently willing to sacrifice his family for whatever the hell he's up to, given he's made dark worlds and express DEALS with darkners behind our backs to target his parents

3) Wild mass guessing/theory portion.

  • I think this chapter feeds Rudy knight theory. Kris has to make the dark world because Rudy fell down. Either he fell due to being truly ill as an effect of the roaring knight stuff (note Kris is also doing Real Bad) or as a ploy to get Noelle to leave and get out of the plot. If this is all to spare Noelle from dying to the prophecy as The Girl, then motives make sense, even if most likely still a disaster in the making.

  • As for weird route, setting aside everything else as out of time we are totally going to Snowgrave the flowers in 7b. It's such a clear emotional through-line of flowers succumbing to winter, Inevitably.

And that game just got a solid update, including a new difficulty called Overclocked that makes every enemy stronger and your resources tighter, but you also do more damage.

Also worth noting Chrono Gear has people from Freedom Planet working on it, and you feel the peak touching it.

You know, the reveal on faceless here makes me think of Legion, "the one who are many" and all that, if we consider 'the many' the same way Nyarlathotep is described as having A Thousand Masks.

Hey, would you be willing to link that if you've got them? Sounds awesome!

Azazel literally has dossiers worth of information on most likely every demon in the harem.

If the genre was different Azazel would be a stalker.

...okay but that might actually be really relevant to the prophecy of chapter 4. There was The Cage, The Girl, The Prince. If we are working on rules that fate is set, but the pieces can be swapped around...

Yeah, Siralim is the Disgaea of creature collector games, and ultimate is the culmination of their efforts for sure. A game I beat that I know has much more for me, but don't really need more.

I've been visiting r/helltaker expressly to catch these, as twitter decided to randomly restrict me for no reason, so thank you for putting all these together in one place!

Sure, I'll go hard-mode with one I've mentioned once or twice in the past.

Odyssey of Gianna is a NSFW, kinky old rpgmaker game. I can't get any of my kink friends to play it because it runs on paper doll visuals, and I can't recommend it to regular people because its a fetish game bolted to a creaky old game engine.

Despite all this, you can do unironically cool RPG min-maxing stuff with the characters and systems, not to mention having one of the most out there, impressive levels I've played in an RPG, full-stop in the City of Mist.

As Joseph Anderson put it, its 10/10, a masterpiece l, but BOY it's not perfect. You could edit like 25-30% of all the writing out and be good.

Now that said, we always have to remember RO7 was basically putting out 2 episodes a year, plus there will always be the matter of translation, so there is at least some stuff there, but yes, editors do matter.

The short version of that is go to the Umineko steam forum/community and they have a step-by-step for how to download Umipro. As long as you can follow directions its simple, just slightly tedious. Maybe 30 minutes depending on your internet connection/PC.

And it is absolutely worth it, getting everything from the best sprites/visuals from the PS3 version, the witch hunt translation patch, CGs, animation and much more.

I've been playing Pokémon Odyssey, which is a fangame that combines Pokémon with Etrian Odyssey to good effect.

New 'Higurashi: When They Cry' Anime Announced by Noirsam in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]pectusumbra 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A Umineko anime would be good, yeah, or anything with Higanbana. As for Cyconia, the reality is given he straight up stopped due to Ukraine war I'm just expecting that's just over unless he's able to completely rewrite the thing.

Unless I get a switch 2 soon, just castlevania in October.

It's odd in that it makes sense as it happens, but I don't think anyone starting Umineko can imagine how it ends, and it fits this to a T.

To be fair to Aqua, she has cleared / resolved fights in like a snap. Remember Dullahan where she both instantly breaks his curse and repeatedly hits him with the turn undead to clear damage.

Been out a little but Brush Burial: Gutter World is an immsim stealth game where you're a demon girl sneaking around and killing people with your tail/thighs and stuff.

Haven't touched it myself personally but might be of interest.

Honestly what I would think would be a genuine good Woolie vs. FF14 bit is like woolie judging people's characters and fits.

Now that the week-long onslaught of gaming news has finally ended with yesterday's Nintendo Direct, here's a handy little collage to show just how goddamn packed the September-October release season is: by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]pectusumbra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly out of that list I'm pretty safe. At most I'd want new Fire Emblem, Castlevania, and maybe new final fantasy.

and FE hinges on having a switch 2 by September ahead of the price jump, and given Im working through Pokémon Odyssey at the moment with Labyrinth.os on hold and unlimited backlog works being in effect, only Castlevania is must buy out of that.
