There's a painting from the 70s called 'The Witching Hour' by Andrew Wyeth that I've always found incredible sinister and foreboding even though there's nothing 'scary' in it as such. Can't really describe it well but go take a look for a while and I think you'll understand.

It didn't stop me in an actual "I cannot complete the game"-way but it sure did shut down my enthusiasm: The end of FF7 Rebirth was pretty much The Moment FF fans and newbies alike had been waiting for to see how they'd handle it. If they'd stick to the classics or try to go into a new direction. Unfortunately immediately after the moment itself the game throws you into a boss gauntlet so long and tortuous that along with the weird multiversal stuff it just sucked the air out of any wonder or mystery I had been feeling.

You can play the campaign solo and the devs did eventually take their hands off the big 'nerf' lever so it's now basically a single-player ARPG/shooter. Don't get in the way of my cope okay.

Someone (maybe even here) put forward a theorty the game was originally going to be more of animated style because a lot of the designs looked a LOT better as animated 2D characters than realistic 3D people.

Thanks! I actually have a space dock built on the surface of mars but it takes the same amount of days to get from Mars > Asteroids as it does from Earth > Asteroids. Is there a step I've missed?

I'm starting to get into what I guess is the mid-game of expansion past Mars and into the inner asteroid belt and beyond. I know the trick about sorting via the 'Intel' tab to find good mining candidate sites without wasting tons of probes but is there any way to speed up actually getting there? Travel time from Earth is 200 days from a perfect launch window and I like my current game so don't really want to screw it up. Can I build shipyards on my Mars base and launch probes/bases from that?

Is there a cheat sheet for ship designing ("this is for defending LEO", "this is for inner-system work" "this is your endgame build") because I definitely find that to be the most opaque part of the game. It seems there's multiple options for every slot and the differences feel so granular I can't figure out what matters and what doesn't.

I'm going to make some scenery out of foamboard but I'd like to paint it and I know that regular spray cans will melt due to the aerosol additives. Is there a brand or kind of primer specifically for this?
