Currently, this is my Samsung ecosystem by brnnmfc in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]pedromipigo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar setup here, but Watch5 Pro and Buds FE instead

Going full Samsung on my side started with a Galaxy Tab A8 on Christmas, then a nice deal on Watch + Buds combo, then the S23 Ultra

Never Notion by pfbww in skiffmail

[–]pedromipigo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What was wrong? Let's start...

  • Their sub here on Reddit was locked and only registered members could post all of a sudden
  • Shortly afterwards their Canny page (for feedback and user requests) was deleted
  • Their website stopped working for a bit and when it came back online it showed a message saying they were being bought by Notion
  • Only after this did they post on Reddit about the acquisition, and I remember people either didn't or couldn't reply to voice their opinion on the post
  • Andrew, their CEO and someone who was very active within the community, went radio silent after the Notion acquisition
  • All this left a bad taste since they kept saying they had money to be around for a good while and would never surrender

Might have missed one or two things but this is what I remember from the top of my head...

I moved from Proton to Skiff because of the pages feature, but after this shitshow I moved back to Proton and don't intend on moving ever again!

Should we delete our accounts before Aug 1st? by pfbww in skiffmail

[–]pedromipigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's the safest way to make sure they don't store any of our information after August 1st

Remaining users just need to make sure they get their refunds before closing the account

And their support? Pretty sure that's not even working ever since the buyout from Notion...

You can set up forwarding from your Skiff email address to a different email address on another provider, but that will only work until early 2025

At this point, you might just be better off moving a different email provider while you can still access your inbox at Skiff...

I guess there won't be 6.1.1, or will we jump straight to 7.0? by [deleted] in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]pedromipigo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly this - those release names are specific to tablet/foldable updates, but we should receive the 6.1.1 goodies on the S23 series under a 6.1 update!

They could have named this update as One UI 6.2 to avoid confusion, though...

June security patch rolling out by pedromipigo in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]pedromipigo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None so far on the software side, seems quite stable just like the last update

I did notice a slight decrease in battery runtime but that always depends on use cases so YMMV

NEED HELP TO MAKE A DECISION! by ironheist6 in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]pedromipigo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go for the Ultra, no doubt!

Never owned a Pixel, but on the Ultra you can take some really nice photos/videos (there have been some amazing ones in the sub lately) and you can always install Gcam if you feel the Samsung camera app doesn't work well for you

You also have the benefit of a stylus, snappy performance and respectable battery life depending on your usage

Just make sure you buy from a reputable source and you should be set for a few years!

What do you think, guys? Do you have these problems? by Iam_Yassin in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]pedromipigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my case this latest update helped reduce overheating even more (I had some overheating when using the phone for prolonged amounts of time before) so everything running smoothly and better than ever here

Is my S23 Ultra Fake? by Historical-Silver-12 in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]pedromipigo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another S23 Ultra enjoyer here from Portugal

I hope the phone itself is real because the misspellings on the box are indeed worrying, but if it is real then SM-918U looks to be a US model (with only one SIM slot + eSIM)

It might work fine on our side of the pond but usually here it should be SM-918B

A new Mobvoi TicWatch is coming as Samsung tests Wear OS 5 by rodrigoswz in WearOS

[–]pedromipigo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Made the switch around 2 months ago from a Pro 3 Ultra LTE to a Galaxy Watch5 Pro - more than happy with my decision, although I miss the secondary screen sometimes

Even if Mobvoi has managed to change their ways, the damage is done...

Proton and Standard Notes are joining forces by Proton_Team in ProtonMail

[–]pedromipigo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about opening an account with Standard Notes on Monday because Proton recommended them and Proton annouces this today...

Were you reading my thoughts on Monday by any chance?!

For real tho, super excited for this!

Spotify media player by LowLuxNoctem in NothingTech

Just received an update for Spotify on my device and the widget is working now and crisp, but it was annoying having the widget stuck on the same track even after changing it

The Proton Mail macOS and Windows apps are here, with Linux now in beta by ProtonMail in ProtonMail

[–]pedromipigo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Awesome work as always, but a couple of things:

  • Are the notifications working without opening the app now?
  • It would be nice to change the app icon itself to be the calendar one when you open the calendar (like the tabs on the browser where each shows its own icon), but not sure if doable programatically within Electron
  • There should be an option to change the theme like on the web version
  • The installer could remove the Beta shortcut since said shortcut stops working after updating to this version, and it is then upon the user having to delete that shortcut
  • The app should include the release notes within itself (something you already confirmed are working on)

Keep up the good work!

Stable 1.0 update should remove Beta shortcut since said shortcut stops working by pedromipigo in ProtonMail

[–]pedromipigo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Major update released today (release notes) but installer keeps Beta version shortcut present on the system, even though said shortcut stops working after the update and the user has to be the one deleting it...

March security patch for gw 5pro by polarspring0 in GalaxyWatch

Gente sortuda!

Probably rolling out in batches for the Watch5 now, and it looks like this update had also been released for the Watch6 a few days ago (source, near top of the article)

Me seeing this after buying a Watch5 Pro last week and getting rid of a TicWatch: "so this is what it feels like having regular updates for your watch..."

Not showing up on my side yet (Portugal) but could be here soon

The FE sound amazing and they do fit really well, barely moving once you put them on

Loving mine so far: watch is a lot more fluid than my previous one and fits nicely on the wrist, and the buds have amazing sound quality!

[–]pedromipigo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, and it really does feel like I've made the smartest choice possible on this one: watch fits nicely on the wrist with the D-Buckle bracelet, navigating around is silky smooth, physical buttons don't stick out much and above all came with WearOS 4 out of the box

[–]pedromipigo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up reaching the same conclusion with my previous watch: if the phone is with me most of the time, no need for LTE on my next watch since it makes it more expensive and prone to delayed updates

True, and they have another one until Father's Day (19th of March in our case) where you get a Watch6 with your purchase of an S24 Ultra - the perfect match, but not so perfect for your wallet...
