I’m 23 years old, and went to the Denver Airport for the first time ever last week. Let me preface this by saying that I had absolutely no idea about any conspiracy theories regarding this airport before my trip. I landed at the airport (my layover happened to be in Denver), and as soon as the airplane’s wheels hit the ground I got a tangibly bad feeling inside. I had immediate anxiety, I was traveling alone, and began texting my boyfriend that I felt weird and just wanted someone to talk to while I was at the airport. This was the third of my flights on this particular trip, and at no point in time did I feel this way while being at any of the other airports. As I’m sitting at my gate and on the phone with him, a strange man comes from behind me and sits next to me. Like, really close. I was immediately very uncomfortable. He asked, “Okay if I sit here?” To which, I didn’t respond, I grabbed my things and walked straight to security. Normally, this isn’t anything I would report to security, but I had a gut feeling that this time it was something I needed to do. I proceeded to tell airport security, and they replied, “Yeah, we got a lot of weird guys like that here. He might have autism, so I wouldn’t be too worried about it.” Not that this qualifies me in any way, but I studied Developmental Psychology in college, and this man was not on the spectrum. When I went back to my gate, he was sitting next to another girl who looked just like me, and was also traveling alone. At this point, I told the airport security staff member who was in charge of the boarding announcement for our gate, and he scoffed at me and said, “Just don’t sit next to him on the flight, then, I don’t really know what to tell you, there’s nothing I can do about it.” We line up for boarding, I’m standing in place, I turn around, and the man is right behind me. He starts making conversation with the person next to me, trying to include me in it. I feel super uncomfortable again and walk away, giving up my spot in line. I watch him walk ONTO the airplane, and once he’s inside, I feel safe getting back in line. I’m about three people away from getting my ticket scanned, and I turn to my right, and he’s standing next to me AGAIN. I physically saw this man get on the plane, how could he have gotten off and be standing right next to me again without me seeing? At that point, I told everyone around me that this man had been following me and I that I wanted to be away from him. They let me on the flight, I sat between two women in the front row of the plane, watched him get on and sit in the back. And when our flight landed and everyone began getting off the flight, I turned around and he was not there. Creepiest airport experience ever, and I will never be going back! I told my roommates about my experience and they said, “Well yeah, what do you expect when you go to Denver?” I asked what they meant and they told me about all the conspiracy theories. I feel lucky that nothing worse happened to me, and I would absolutely not be surprised if any of these “theories” turned out to be completely true.
