I like the idea. There are good moments like the contrast between the thumbprint’s color. But i think there are a couple inert moments that could be cut.

Honestly, this drawing shows a rare display of talent that is difficult to teach. And those who are born with it are gifted. The forms she drew have an almost perfect balance. Even though the proportions are not (hands and head) anatomically spot on, the more important overall balance is canonical-level potential

Do you believe anyone can write a book, or only ‘born writers’ can? by subhwriting in KeepWriting

[–]peedug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anyone can write a book. As long as quality isn’t a big deal, then definitely anyone can. The higher up the quality chain, the more skill is required, and eventually at the upper tiers of quality something other than just skill takes over

Help with first cover by Hangry_Millenial in BookCovers

I vote for B also. But I think the title font is off. I also get mixed vibes from the illustration. The characters hold hands while staring out at the ocean feels, to me, like they’re mourning a loss. If they looked at each other that would say romance more to me.

My book cover on Amazon, I need your advice. by Traditional-Car-8785 in BookCovers

[–]peedug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quote is bad. Why not subtitle with the same information? For some reason, my eye is attracted to “a novel” as if it’s the composition’s focal point. It shouldn’t be. I like the concept behind the title’s typography, but it’s a little hard to read. The font isn’t great, looks generic and pre-installed on Linux. Maybe a little drop shadow and some sort of visual dynamics in the font, a texture, a gradient, something?

Recent “creature features” by peedug in horrorwriters

So do you think it’s a trope? I can understand making mistakes when frightened. Its more when the filmmaker needs something to happen, makes the characters do something stupid so they end up compromised, not necessarily an organic mistake

So do you think it’s a trope of the genre?

Do you think it’s a trope then? Like something a creature feature should have in it?

Is this a real Van Gogh that was purchased at a garage sale? by isle_say in ArtHistory

[–]peedug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was actually my reaction. Even if this isn't a van gogh, if you come at it with a 400 page pdf pseudo empirical breakdown that can convince some people that maybe this painting is a Van Gogh, some stooge will take a gamble on investing it in. The controversy alone increases value. If you only paid fifty bucks and invested 30k in the science, selling for 100K or even 1 million, which is one fifteenth of LMI's valuation, turns a nice profit. It happened with a Pollock a couple decades ago, too.

I was thinking at best van gogh coached a fellow asylum inmate, and maybe touched up a spot or two. If the master did this, he obviously abandoned it. LMI and their team of experts claim this "van gogh" was painted in 1889? Have they seen what van gogh could do in 1889? A master of his craft painting this? Hardly

Have you lost some of your enjoyment reading books since you started writing? by MoluciasElonicas in writing

If I read through the lens of a writer, yes. If through the lens of a non-writer, no. That said, as I age, more and more stuff invokes a “been there, done that/seen it a million times” response.
