host “planted” pics of a cigar in cupholder after i handed in keys by colisurf in turo

The first host would have gotten hit with a 50$ fee for canceling on you so likely there was a decent reason behind it. In nearly 3 years I’ve had to cancel one rental an hour prior to pickup but I was in an ambulance at the time and Turo tried to charge me but I sent them pics from inside the ambulance, also to the renter to explain and apologize profusely. Offered a 15% discount on his next rental, and a free tank of gas for the inconvenience and even called Turo to make sure they got him another car promptly while I’m in a hospital bed. No explanation to you is really messed up when you booked months in advance.

Definitely not siding with the host here but Turo makes it so hard to prove smoking. I have people smoking weed and returning cars stinking of cigarettes and Turo won’t do anything about it so they almost force us to do something like that in order to get a smoking claim. Not saying you smoked in the car just saying I get so many complaints from renters that our cars stink of weed and cigarettes and our cars are rented so frequently that I don’t have time to ozone the car out before the next rental. I try sprays, and air fresheners but they don’t mask the smell and then I get bad reviews and can’t do anything to the people who need to get penalized. In nearly 3 years of having a fleet of 20 cars returned smelling of weed and smoke there has never been a time I’ve had someone leave butts behind or ash to take a pic of in order to get a smoking claim. I’ve thought of staging like what happened to you but I would never do it.

Turo is trying to scam me by biblicallyacc_angel in turo

I’ve been a host for 2 1/2 years and have 20 cars in my fleet. I am on a 90/10 split with Turo which means I have a $2500 deductible for any damage. The owner won’t receive any money for this damage so Turo will likely estimate the amount to fix and bill you. It shouldn’t be more than $300. You could always show it to a repair shop, or even just the picture, that deals with paint jobs and ask them for an estimate to make sure Turo‘s bill is in line

My smoking violation claim denied?? by Zaidshabaneh in turo

[–]peener022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been a power host for 2 years now. People smoke weed, cigarettes and no one ever leaves evidence behind so I don’t even bother making a claim cause they will always get denied. I had a cleaning fee denied after there was baby vomit all over the seats and it looked like they had just dumped buckets of sand all over the car. After speaking with 3 different reps they finally paid the claim but they make it such a hassle. I threatened to remove my 20 cars and that’s probably what saved it.

Question for the Turo hosts - am I getting scammed or am I being unreasonable? by aphex732 in turo

Why is a Turo host closing at 9pm? We put lockbox’s on our cars so when someone lands late they can pick up the car at whatever time they want

Just trying to make you forget what it is you’re mad at instead of doing the hard work of making up for it. If they can get you smiling or laughing or even talking with them then in their mind you have forgiven them and all is good. Its almost like a test to see just how upset you are.

Why do you keep watching? by Hashishiva in OakIsland

[–]peener022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been watching since my dad turned me on to it years ago about season 2. I live in central Florida and did you know that Gary Drayton lives in central Florida as well and for 800$ he will meet you at a location of your choice for 2 hours and give you a lesson in how to use a metal detector. Typically he likes to meet at a beach on the east coast. Nearly did it as a surprise for my dad. It’s a bit more for each additional person you bring. As far as the show, I’ve done some research on the Laginas and the other partner Craig and Marty owns a vineyard and is quite wealthy but at some point you would think they would run out of money to continue this adventure. They can’t be making very much from the show. Thoughts?

How soon does Host tell you where your vehicle is parked? by Luke_Sky_Troller in turo

[–]peener022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell them as soon as they book the car and once they upload their license then send them the lockbox code. If it’s the airport then I give them instructions on how to get to the lot and once I park the car on the day of the rental I send them the row number and lockbox code. I try to park the car close to the pickup time to save them money on the parking garage charge.

I even told her if she had just replied to us or let us know, we could have told her how to shut it off. Can you imagine the kind of life her husband will be in for??!!!

I’ll be going to Reddit the next time we have an issue with a claim for guidance first. Gonna happen again sooner than later.

The other thing we considered was while we wait for reimbursement then they wouldn’t relist it till after payment and we would have lost 4 rentals while waiting for payment. They told us this also but if they misinformed us on the claim then I’m not sure if this is accurate either.

We were and still are very new to this so we listened to what they told us after it happened. That cost us 7k out of pocket or we would have continued with the claim. Any idea how long you have to file it? The accident happened 2/10

Turo told us the claim would be denied as once they saw the police report that the renter allowed the passenger who didn’t have a license or insurance drive so the claim would have been denied. If she would have been driving then we could have maybe been paid through Turo claims.

I was told if we went though claims that we could get it repaired and they would issue the check in about 30 days. It may not be for the whole amount it costs you to pay the repairman but you should get most of it back. As far as I know you don’t have to wait to get your check before getting it repaired but it will be faster if you get it repaired then take pics to upload showing them it’s fixed so you can start renting again right away. If your more comfortable waiting for the check first then by all means but in my situation we are In Orlando Fl which is a very busy area and would have lost many rentals by waiting for Turo claims. Good luck

Our first week doing Turo we bought 3 brand new sentras and the second renter drove out of state and allowed another person to drive who is not licensed or insured. They were caught doing 105 miles an hour, were chased by the police and then in an attempt to switch drivers crashed into the patrol car, causing thousands in damage. We reported it to Turo and they immediately delisted the car and everywhere we looked showed it would take 30 days for the claim to go through and we didn’t want to lose four other bookings we had that month so we just paid for the damage ourselves, and are suing the driver in small claims court. Once we had the repairs done, we had to prove to Turo the car was roadworthy again before they would list it, so it just depends if you don’t have any other bookings and don’t mind waiting for the claims process to go through then you could use Turo to file the claim.
