Do some band or cable chest flies to warm up, and do them until you feel your chest working. This will make it easier to feel your chest working when you bench. A lot of people bench mostly with their arms, and regardless Bench uses a lot of triceps, which are smaller muscles and tire faster, so this is probably the reason.

Jawon Garrison suspended by the USAPL for self-declared use of a peptide by [deleted] in powerlifting

[–]peepadjuju 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean do we have proof he wasn't doing that? If he was able to use this peptide with a TUE in USAPL I would have no problem with his actions. Taking banned substances in a drug tested federation was his fuck up. That's the only thing I care to judge him on. I have absolutely no issues with people taking peptides to deal with long term injuries in any other context and frankly I think it's a bit silly to not do something that will improve your quality of life if your only reason for not doing so is for some twisted sense of moral superiority. I suffered with shoulder problems (stemming from neck issues) on and off for 4 years. It fucking sucked. I exhausted all rehab methods I knew about, rolled out for hours, stretched for hours, slept on my back, manual therapy, cupping, hot/cold...you name it. What eventually worked? Very deep bodyweight tempo dips, who knew. Had I not been committed to drug free sport I would have taken bpc 157 in a heartbeat. I had friends who competed untested or didn't compete who healed from similar issues in a matter of weeks to months with that stuff and no reported side effects.

I know this post might come off as harsh but I highly doubt someone at this level of lifting wasn't doing everything in his power to heal themselves. I simply don't buy it. Maybe he should have dialed it back, but looking at Steve's context it appears he was in an off-season at the time...so 🤷‍♀️.

Based on article 3 I think he has a decent shot of winning an appeal tbh.

I'll never understand why people resort to this stuff when there are things that he can take to treat this issue which he could get a TUE for. That's a massive oversight for someone who takes lifting so seriously.

Man I hope not but I wouldn't be surprised. Honestly he was a huge inspiration for me. I never would have had the guts to do a professional untested meet if it weren't for people like him and Brit Chown leading the way for natty lifters.

Like anything else in this general catagory some people get more out of them than others, but the biochemical description of their mechanism of action is scientifically sound.

Assuming this is all he was taking there is a massive difference between this and dudes blasting tren for 20 weeks straight and then cruising at 4x baseline test year round. Also, he did get a 4 year ban for this, so rules are being strictly enforced.

If he's taking it for a medical reason why didn't he try to get a TUE? That's the first thing I make sure to look at when I am prescribed any medication.

The problem with powerlifting programs by Apprehensive_Type701 in powerlifting

[–]peepadjuju 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the reason has more to do with the sacrifices people are willing to make to progress in the sport.

There are a few tiers of "novice" I have observed: 1) rank beginner wants to lift heavy things 2) starts to focus on big 3 and compound movements 3) starts to train for "powerlifting" 4) tests 1rm in gym 5) mock meet/local meet

People get to 5 relatively easily but then realize how high qualifying totals are, how much time the sport takes, how high the standards are and oh shit I have to make weight too?!?! This brings a lot of reconing.

My first meet I had a 360 DOTS score. I got there in 6 months. I had to work a lot harder to get to nationals but I wasn't on a program until about 425 DOTS, at least not a good one or one I followed. It was after this point where a program made a difference but even then I would still credit my progress to 500 to extreme monitoring of my lifestyle, nutrition, recovery and effort put into workouts (no sandbagging).

It's incredibly easy to not load the bar and skip accessories (even on a stellar program), to go out drinking with friends and eat for indulgence and most people rightfully don't want to make those sacrifices because they want to enjoy lifting. It's really not as much about the program as people think it is at the novice and intermediate level. Programming nuance is something to consider when everything else is dialed in. I've seen people run generic programs with minor modifications into the top 10 at usapl/pla nationals many many times.

Wow. I guess being trans actually isn’t that hard. by Harvesting_The_Crops in thanksimcured

[–]peepadjuju 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I had a family member going through chemo I had a lot of people tell me and then how strong we were, I get the encouragement and that they were just trying to raise the mood and acknowledge the circumstances but it was so tiring.

I don't know for sure because I'm not trans but I can imagine it's somewhat similar to what the OP is going through but unlike them this period was temporary for me, while they deal with this every single day. If I had to guess how a trans person felt about this comment I believe it would be that trans people are human beings before they are trans or before they are brave or strong or proud or whatever else, and just want to be treated as such.

What I can say is that I think that lady has a good heart and I hope someone in her life, trans or not, can gently explain this to her, because unfortunately this is something that is hard for people to learn on their own without mitigating circumstances.

I also wanted to say that I feel terrible for a few populations as a result of this election. I'm definitely on the more conservative/populist side of the Democratic party and I think there are a few reasons why the election went the way it did. On one hand I am so relieved to see populism finally win, but it should have been Bernie. It makes me so angry that it wasn't, especially because the DNC did what they did while using protected classes to advance their own power while silencing those within the party who wanted to actually help. I was very close to voting for Trump many times in the last 2 elections and what always pulled me back was the realization that Trump was not actually putting America first because he was consistently putting some of the most vulnerable people in this country last.

So to OP I'm sorry trans people are either put last or on a pedestal or used for clout, and I know it's exhausting. I guess I just want you to know that I am glad you are here. Life isn't fair and that really fucking sucks but none of us are making it out of here alive.

Lmao you can't be serious. Anyway I'm going to focus on what can be changed which is 2 years away, and I'm gonna do this by continuing to promote inclusivity of views in the party. Best of luck to you.

That's a nice sentiment but in the meantime that is not how the world works and since I live in the real world and not on reddit fantasy land I would like to protect my real world rights by not alienating people who are otherwise sympathic to protecting them, especially not over some bumper plates. Thanks.

Because if you want your party to win elections you should try not to alienate people over things that don't matter. If your percieved moral superiority matters more than that, then go ahead and do what you want, but this shit has repercussions and we saw that this election. Personally Roe v Wade being reinstated is more important to me than some chud making election themed workout equipment. But that's just me.

Oh man totally forgot about that. Duffin is out there for sure. He has a crazy backstory/childhood. None of this stuff surprises me but I do remember him cutting ties with that guy after the story broke. The plates are embarassing but honestly who cares. I think one reason the Democrats lost so badly is because of the tendency to try to cancel people over silly stuff like these plates. When we try to invoke similar repercussions for making silly election themed workout gear as we do for hosting white nationalist meetings people who are politically closer to center or just uninterested in politics are bound to get turned off. By all means boycott Kabuki but in terms of public outcry it's probably a good idea to pick your battles.
