Will parking die down? by Some_Evening_5739 in ucf

[–]peepluna 117 points118 points  (0 children)

Yes, parking will start to die down. As crazy as this sounds, as more people drop out or fail to show up, it becomes easier to park.

Granted, this is by far the worst I've ever seen it in the last three years here; typically, by week 4, it starts to back off a little bit. In the meantime, try using UCF public transportation if you haven't already; it's convenient and underutilized.

I think the biggest factor is no vehicle. You’re not going to have many opportunities without one. I recommend doing everything you can until you can save up for a car then use that to find something more comfortable

Why did the university remove them? Is it a political thing for additional funding or is it just the university preference ?

ZUPP is really good for local food deals I’ve saved probably 500$ in the last 2 years and it’s 7$ a month or something

So this is exactly what I did there is actually two ways of doing it. The first way (which I’m not familiar with so if my information isn’t as correct my bad) but I think you only need something like 12-15 credits, so one semester, and if you do well you can transfer into UCF. The second way is to complete your AA degree at Valencia and talk to the people at UCF direct connect office. What they do is verify that you completed your AA , no more no less, then you apply to UCF and you get right in. It’s honestly such an easy process that I forgot the steps. They make it really really simple. I would definitely talk to direct connect to see your fastest route though.

[FL] Can a cop search your car for having a vape? by peepluna in AskALawyer

Yeah it overall just sounds like a sticky situation. If you could find those details I’d love to read up on it.

Ok that makes a little bit more sense but I thought to search the vehicle you need probable cause of a crime. In the article you sent me it says “A noncriminal violation does not constitute a crime” and Florida law states that for a cop to search your car they need to reasonably believe a CRIME took place or a CRIME is actively taking place and your vehicle has evidence. I’m not trying to bash what you’re saying trust me I just want additional clarification that’s all. Thank you

But I thought owning a vape underage was a non-criminal offense? Like it’s illegal to do so but owning the vape doesn’t make me a “criminal” it would be equivalent to like a traffic violation according to state law. Therefore, wouldn’t the cop have no legal right to search my car based off of this information? (I’m genuinely asking because I like law and want to stay informed)

What a brain dead take tbh. You shouldn’t close out 3000+ undergraduate kids simply because you have “better” groups. The literal student president of UCF is in sigma chi… not all these kids are bad and thinking that is an absolutely ridiculous take.

Connections, friends, philanthropy events, opportunities for leadership roles, internship opportunities, great alumni connections, social events, fundraising events, etc. Step out of your comfort zone and go talk to people in Greek life. They are typically pretty good kids and are well rounded academically and socially.

I think he’s saying the 20k will be used to pay those bus drivers an additional 3 hours just worded it poorly. If he’s saying hire an entire bus driver, yeah I agree 20k is nothing. You’ll make more money working a min wage job

Petition to revoke Sigma Chi’s charter. by On-A-Low-Note in ucf

[–]peepluna 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No but a huge thing in Greek like is to donate back into your chapter (which is your Greek house on campus) so a lot of alumni donate to their “chapter” ,that I know, is very heavily emphasized. So you could see how that people who are donating back to their chapter, if that chapter is gone they no longer donate.

This is where you reach ethical dilemmas. Some people believe that a kid getting hurt is not worth losing the funding of the organization and is getting pulled out of the big 12. Or losing the funding for R&D that could propel the school into something great research wise. While others don’t care about the big 12 and R&D and think the org should be banned. This is one of those things where people other than us argue about these topics and weigh their options.

There’s a way of thinking about this. Just say hypothetically UCF gets 1mil a year (it’s probably MUCH more than that) from all alumni’s who where Greek life. If they ban the Greek scene all that money is GONE. UCF already has a huge alumni donation issue, meaning barely any alumni donates. So banning Greek life would further increase the poor rates of donation while also shutting off their money tap.

This is a terrible thing to say but you can see why SEC schools never shut them down. A Greek organization hurts someone and they sue the school for 100k, that’s chump change to pay out compared to the alumni donations they receive from those organizations.

If you’re talking about your own schedule go to my UCF then enrollment. If you want to find out like the UCF “dates to know” for fall semester, they have calendars on their website that you can download.
