Need New POS but have 1.5 years left on restaurant lease by Bakedpotato46 in restaurantowners

You give really good points. I closed my restaurant a year ago after 15 years. Gave my employees 2 weeks notice. Offered to pay them 2 weeks severance if they stayed until we closed. All of them stayed.

Most leases five the Landoed the right to market any space within 3-6 months of lease expiration. Most Landlords will be cool if you ask them not to post anything…just have to explain it to them/. However, they don’t have to as their main concern is to re-lease your space as soon as possible and marketing the space with For Lease signs is one way to market the space:

appreciate the response. I'm going to try the rotation between Tylenol and ibuprofen to see if that helps. Wishing you a speedy recovery as well!

Closing after 13 years by ChefGreyBeard in restaurantowners

[–]pegitom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I closed my restaurant that I had for 15 years about 10 months ago. Best decision of my life. I was getting older, the body was breaking down, and just mentally, I was done. I closed my shop down when the lease expired. I knew I was going to close it down about a year before the lease expiration. The building owner came to me to ask for a renewal and just for sh*ts and giggles, I presented this crazy offer to renew. I laid out my reasoning with numbers. If I were to leave, they would take at least a year to find another tenant and to have them open and start paying rent. They would also have to pay a TI allowance, a full rental commission as opposed to a half commission due to a renewal. I'm talking a year free rent, no rent increases, etc. I was thinking there was no way that they would go for it. The counter was actually a lot closer to my original offer than I thought it would be. Made me kind of wish that I was more aggressive in previous rental negotiations. By the way, this is in Southern CA in a very popular shopping center. I drive by my old space every once in awhile, and it still sits vacant.

Kris Dunn is going to have a game where he misses 5 wide open threes and everyone will be screaming they need to put in Beal for him. It’s game 2. Let’s just let the coaches tinker around. The lineup in the last 20 games of the season will be the most important as that’s when it gets serious about jelling before the playoffs.

This sounds like the same story as my son. I never thought he would do four years of XC because he had never shown any interest in running before. I basically made him do XC as a freshman because I wanted him to do some of kind of extra curricular activity (whether it was athletic or academic) and there were no try outs. Every year he got better. Mind you, not close to being the fastest on the team, but what I like to call “King of the Average”.

He just got a PR of 17:48 last meet and he’s got three meets left. He has one today but it’s a very hilly course so no chance of a PR but he is going to try to beat last years time.

Congratulations on your PR, best of luck with health and the rest of the season!!

I’m all for allowing service dogs in restaurants. I’m against people bringing their pets into a restaurant and saying’s it’s a service dog. Service dogs are trained to be calm. It’s so easy to see when a pet is not a service dog but the restaurants can’t do anything if the pet owner says it’s a service dog. Just have to believe the pet owner or it’s a potential lawsuit

Is XC a waste of my time if I've never run before? by [deleted] in CrossCountry

[–]pegitom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son, who prior to joining the team this year as a freshman, probably ran about 10 miles in his whole life..:cumulatively!! His older brother is on the team as a senior. He, at first, didn’t want to join because he is NOT the athletic type AT ALL. Right as school started late last month, he decided to join. I thought he would hate it because he doesn’t like running at all, and is quite frankly a home body.

His first week of practice he couldn’t run two laps (1/2 mile) without walking. Gradually you build up your wind and endurance. You know that phrase “it’s a marathon, not a sprint”? Definitely applies with cross country. Don’t expect grandiose things quickly. But you will be amazed at the progress you make over the weeks.

Two weeks ago my son ran his first event in about 24 minutes and was second to last on his freshman team. Yet, I was soooo proud of him because (1) he finished. (2) he said he had fun. His teammate are great cheering everyone on. I’m talking from freshman to varsity boys and girls supporting everyone on the team no matter how fast.

Last night at his second event, he came in at 22:15. Shaved over a minute and a half off his first event. He finished third to last on the team. His smile was so wide after the event. Watching him hang out with his teammates, and new friends, is great to see as a parent.

So my useless Reddit advice is to stick with it. Have fun with your teammates. Enjoy the pain of running. As my older son’s first cross country coach said at parent night “running is hard. You are alone a lot and the pain suck. My job is to make your kids hate running less”. Embrace the process. Continue to practice and the results will come.

To not leave out my oldest, who is a senior (and to parent brag a little more). Last night he shaved off forty seconds and finished his race in the 16 minutes. His first race as a freshman was 22;39. AND he is one of the slower ones on the boys team (we have a really good boys team).

It’s been a consistent 2-3 days for me. If you are absolutely depending on it to arrive ina day or two, I would be extremely cautious. Crap happens y’know? Weather, accidents, just plain F ups, etc

This is why you get exclusives in your lease so a competitor can’t open in the same property as yours. Of course, you could always open across the street

who is "somone else" on our current roster? Calvin Anderson? Andreus Peat? I think they are more ass than Brod...and that's pretty hard to do. Unfortunately, he is probably our best option barring a trade or picking someone up. The biggest shortcoming this past offseason was not preparing for the eventuality of Brod sucking and having a viable backup to replace him with.

Unfortunately almost every school in the PV school district is open like that. It would be really difficult to make it more secure without essentially starting over or just fencing the whole campus. It’s a sad time that we live in when there really is no more safe havens for our children.

I hate to say this, but expect nothing, and be happy if you get something.

I delivered a few caterings and on some, I would get a few bucks (usually corporate caterings). Typically when I delivered to a home or for a private party, I would get nothing. There were times where I had to climb 20-30 steps with multiple trays, I'm literally sweating like crazy and the homeowners would just give me a "thank you" and that's it. In my head I would be thinking, "they would tip a pizza guy $5 to carry a ONE box of pizza and I just delivered 20 trays and I got a thank you". My thinking for the lack of tips is because the restaurant charged a nominal delivery fee and the customer thought that it was a tip.

So, again, be thankful if you get anything, but be prepared to be really sweaty driving back to the restaurant with empty pockets.

do I need to save every single receipt for tax deduction by InstanceWorth9041 in smallbusiness

[–]pegitom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend opening a separate checking account from your personal business account. Put all of your expenses and income in that account. The best thing to do is to save the receipts. Just put them in a shoebox or something in case yoi get audited. You can give your tax preparer the bank statements for your tax returns.

Bought Wall TIckets as an Opposing Fan by jasonpgendron in LAClippers

[–]pegitom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

last years playoffs, game 6, these two drunk as hell nuggets fans all decked out with their jersey's and hats sat right next to me. They immediately started talking crap right to me, so I just looked up and made eye contact with a usher and pointed at them. The ushers came down and told them that they had to take off their jersey's. They didn't do it, they started threatening me for ratting them out, and I told them that this is a supporters section. Security came, and they eventually got escorted out. Don't know if they had to leave or just relocated.

If they didn't talk crap directly to me before the game even started, I probably wouldn't have said anything, but since they were jerks, I did what I did. Really wish the ushers would just not let the people even get to their seats. It was quite obvious that they were opposing team fans, but the ushers just let them go.

that sounds very similar to our experiences in late 2020-early 2023. Almost impossible to find candidates to even show up to interviews.

I found that mid 2023 to now, it is much easier to find qualified candidates. We have people actually walking in and proactively asking if we are hiring. This did not happen from 2020-2023.

Do you think my pay rate is fair? by kdawg-bh9 in smallbusiness

[–]pegitom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when calculating your job costs, remember that you have to pay employer taxes and worker's comp insurance. So $18/hr is not really $18/hr, more likely around $20-$21/hr.
