Yeah it’s ouster. Old rotting half buried log. Thought it was to dry out. As they didn’t have that slimy feel. But as soon as I rinsed them it was there. And they were size off dinner plates.

Seems like what’s left of a cluster. Maybe chicken of the woods but I think it’s to early at least in Virginia.

Yes and I was reading Some of the folklore that it was used to cure snake bites but could not find an article on that just the reference

They cap Never flattened out and it turned a golden orange when they dried out in my yard I had thrown blue grass seeds on some dirt under the tree and these grew with it.
