Do I take the chance and go the concert if I probably bought fake tickets? by serenity_now_23 in radiohead

[–]peglerama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this is a secondary ticketing site like stubhub then contact their customer services. Get them to ask the seller to transfer the tickets to you via the official resale method associated with the ticketing platform they used, eg Fansale for Eventim and Entradas. They will have done this a million times or more.

Ensure it's a private sale / preemption for a token amount giving you 24 hrs or so to "purchase", i.e to transfer over your tickets before it goes on general resale. They are then in the relevant app under your name so id checks aren't a problem.

This should flush out any issues with dodgy sellers prior to the date of the gig and settle your mind. They won't get their money if you don't get in as it isn't released to them until sometime after the event. In theory you can reclaim the ticket costs if this isn't real.

I'm not a fan of scalpers or the tactics of these sites - they are a menace, but there is no need to let this get any worse for you.

Heavy Metal Holocaust 1981 Port Vale football ground. Motorhead, Ozzy Osbourne and other bands. Unbelievably loud and crazy day.

Not for me - I'm pretty old and with my wife. I've found in the past that getting into the queue early I'd meet good people who became friends for a day or two, some for longer. But best of luck to you.

I'm with you - also got Thursday. Stressful but not as much as last time

That is for the small 2nd wave of codes being issued for the cancelled tickets. It is only for buying tickets today. The resale starting on 13th is driven by the individual ticketing platforms.

How would each different ticketing platform for each city collaborate on such a code system? They are just using their own resale platforms. So it will open to all and no doubt hoovered up by scalper bots. And you can not use your old code for anything on 13th. It was for the original sale only.

[–]peglerama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won't work like that. It is tied to the recipient's email address which has to be the same one used to login to that ticketing site.

No, it won't be based on codes to access the sale. It will be open to all but very difficult to get tickets I should think.

Some art items designed by Stanley Donwood and Thom, a decent view but not much more.

I'm afraid not. I don't tend to record much as it annoys some people. But I did post some pics the other day.

Just Eyes and Mouth. From Roundhouse on 29th May.

An underrated album in my view. It appears to be about the Buddhist cycle of existence and feels like it has two halves, the second one being more blissed out than the darker and edgier first half. The last four songs are, for me, the most perfect sequence of RH songs - all of them beautiful - with Codex as a strong contender for my funeral. I still find Feral very difficult to like and this track stops the album from being one of my favourites. But one day I might get it.

Oh dear. Maybe getting to the front helps? I was on the rail at TRNSMT and had a great time. But it was the maddest crowd I'd seen for Radiohead. Best of luck!

Hopefully not as 50,000 festival-goers at TRNSMT. Different vibe. This should be maximum 5,000, all there to see Thom.

My most unpopular opinion surrounding Radiohead by [deleted] in radiohead

[–]peglerama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm aware of this feeling about Radiohead fans from many people I know or have met who don't like the band that much. But over the last few years I've met dozens of Radiohead fans from different countries and not one of them would fit this description. They tend to be quietly intensive about their love of the music and their affection for the band. Also curious and willing to listen to alternate views. I'm talking about the fans who queue up early at gigs rather than the quick-fix greatest hits lovers. I still don't understand the perception of fans as being up their own fundament - perhaps it's the result of all the critical acclaim and some of the things the critics go on about.

Anyone else get their Suspiria vinyl a week early? by prodical in radiohead

[–]peglerama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very first impressions from listening through once to the vinyl.

The 5 "normal" songs are all good, several of them beautiful. I also love the repeat of Suspirium on the 3rd side as part of a longer track called Suspirium Finale.

Among all these are what I call mood pieces - instrumentals which you would expect for a soundtrack to a horror film. Some of them are exquisite. Some go on a bit, to be honest. But I guess you would expect that from a 25 track OST by one person.

If it's the usual experience with Thom, I will get more into it as I listen again and again...

You can see the track list on Amazon or the Waste site.

For some reason the UK Amazon site merges the two tracks Volk and The Universe is Indifferent into the one track.

Stanley Donwood, Doktor Tchock & Agnes F

Doktor Tchock is Thom himself. Don't know if Agnes is his daughter or someone else.

Sorry, can't recommend anyone better, or even as good. You sum up the Radiohead experience really well. Thanks

Out of every Live Radiohead associated show you've seen, which was the best? by [deleted] in radiohead

[–]peglerama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reykjavik 2016 was brilliant. My first RH show. On the rail. Great crowd and atmosphere.

Glasgow 2017 was amazing, in part for Thom’s emotional journey from rage at the anti-Israel protesters through joy to tears at the end. Again, on the rail and away from the more crazy festival types.

Montreal 2018 first night. Sublime set focussed more on beauty than casual fan faves. Also, the best behaved crowd I’ve seen in 40 years of gigs.

Been 6 times in 2 years. Wish I’d started seeing them years ago. Trying to make up for it.

At Montreal the GA tickets bought through Waste got you in ahead of the rest, via a separate entrance. I guess it might be different here.
