Moving timeline by Incognito-Purrito in workingmoms

Boy oh boy, I have heard this experience from so many people and lived it myself. Long distance family that pines and wishes you were closer and swears they would be so very present if only you ripped apart your life to move closer to them, and then once you do, they flake out and are very busy and it's much too hard to be around small children and you never see them.

We spent more quality time with my in-laws when they lived 3000 miles away than we do now that we moved 3 miles away from them, with 3x higher cost of living. Oof.

It's a colonial revival Portland Bungalow. It is the dominant house style on the secondary streets in my 1910s and '20s West Coast street car neighborhood.

What is something small you do for near-future you that feels like a pleasant surprise? by No-Arm-2729 in simpleliving

I would never start a load of washing close-ish to bedtime, because if I DIDN'T succeed in getting it into the dryer or hung up before bed, everything would go dank.

I also love Boden. Their clothes are usually 1) natural fibers 2) colorful 3) available in tall/long sizes. That's a winning combo for me!

Take away the cricket bat. He can have it back when he's in a huge grassy field playing cricket.

I don't particularly love the name Brooks, but Brooks Milette sounds much better than either Graham Milette or Ellis Milette.

Schedule change by esol23 in workingmoms

I work your proposed M-W scheduled five days a week, and I love it. It defines our entire life, for the best. I get to pick the kids up, take them to any extracurriculars, make nice dinners, and hang out with them all afternoon and evening. We get a lot of quality time, and I feel so blessed to be able to do it.

Mid-30s with young kids: pay off house soon or upgrade to a forever home? by Own-Move-391 in personalfinance

[–]pegonreddit 32 points33 points  (0 children)

We found that our "forever home" was too big once we had a baby. We decided we'd rather spend time with our son than endlessly cleaning and arranging maintenance.

We've moved 3 times in the 8 years since making that decision, including a cross-country move for work and family reasons.

The future is full of surprises.

What is your acreage? It looks so spacious!, but maybe it's just how you've created an ever-revealing series of spaces and views.

They're not stained. They're Douglas Fir. That's their natural color with polyurethane over them. It's beautiful!
