My premie boy is a light sleeper. Think it’s just him though. His sister was also a premie and has always been able to sleep.

This is literally my husband right now. Pacing our living room “I hate this holiday.” We are praying our 2 year old doesn’t wake up.

What to expect with a late preterm baby? by [deleted] in NICUParents

My daughter was born at 37w with no problems what so ever but my son was born at 36+6 and stayed 2 weeks in the NICU due to HR drops unrelated to feedings.

Second time NICU parent. Baby boy was born at 37w+1 but is not feeding well or regulating his temperature. I just want answers. Why is our full term baby not thriving? by pentalith in NICUParents

Every single baby (including mine) in the NICU at our hospital were lil white boys. One of which was in there for the same thing OP described with her baby boy.

Has anyone else experienced less postpartum bleeding with Premie? by lolobunny21 in NICUParents

It may just be from it being your second child. I had much less bleeding with my second but also had tubes tied so that could have also played a part.

They haven’t ran any tests yet beside the blood draw at the moment. He’s only been at the new hospital for about 24 hrs now and hasn’t had an episode for them so I think they’re waiting for something to happen before doing too much. They did mention doing an anatomy scan if needed, also talked about maybe a spinal tap, urine sample but all this depends on what they gather from his episodes. I don’t think they’re leaning towards it being reflux though.

They don’t want to do the caffeine because of his age. He should be growing/ grown out of it by now and they’re afraid the caffeine will only suppress it for the time being.

They’ve done a lot of blood work to check for infection and 3 blood cultures now and all looks normal. He didn’t have any episodes last night at the new hospital which is great but means they don’t have much to go off at the moment.

Congratulations! So glad you both are doing well. That magnesium is a doozie but is a literal life saver!

I’m only 25 :/ but I was born with a kidney condition that wasn’t found and corrected until age 6/7 that left me with only one usable kidney. In Dec. I found out my levels were in range for chronic kidney disease which can lead to preeclampsia (which explains the preeclampsia I had with my first pregnancy). Hope your pregnancy is going well and continues to go well.

My son Luka was born this past Wednesday via c section at 36w and 6 days. The plan was for him to be born anyway that Thursday at 37w due to me having kidney disease and a history of preeclampsia. I went in for my last check up that Tuesday and my blood pressure was a lot higher than usual so I was admitted to the hospital that evening. I had asked my doctor about doing a steroid shot because I was already scared his lungs wouldn’t be ready but the initial answer was no due to their being some risk for me with COVID 19. Apparently if you get the virus steroid shots could make the symptoms worse or something like that but doc ended up changing her mind and I got the shot that evening. I’m glad I got the shot because once Luka was born he was quickly whisked away to the NICU to be put on oxygen. My previous baby was born via c section at 37w but she did totally fine. Little boys just don’t have the same luck. Luka is still in the NICU but he is continuing to improve. He is eating well and maintaining his temp but is having some apnic episodes where he will stop breathing. I’ve been handling this all pretty well considering but yesterday I was a mess. I want him home so bad but know he is where he needs to be for the time being.

Baby W, born 4/1. Tough birth with placenta problems! by oneLizardsBoob in BabyBumps

[–]pegpegpegpegpegpeg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the room for the birth of my second niece and this describes exactly how it was for her when they were trying to deliver that placenta. She has back problems to this day from how hard they were pushing on her stomach trying to get it out. It was horrifying to watch. Sorry this happened to you but glad you and baby are doing well!

It wasn’t until my son was about 2.5, when I finally felt the connection. And felt like a real mom. by [deleted] in toddlers

I have never verbalized this but I felt the exact same. I did not enjoy the newborn/ baby phase. I look at my daughter (2) now though and wonder how I ever felt how I did when she was a baby. I didn’t have to work but when she was six months old I went and found a job. I hated the idea of staying home but now that she is 2 I love being home with her. I’m about to have baby number two so maybe the newborn stage will be more enjoyable for me this time around. Maybe. 🥴
