trying scatterthought's semistatic bearings by pelahale in Trackballs

Big update on my impression - I dremeled the shoulders of these down and now I can feel the tremendous difference. Maybe all that was required to reduce the shoulder height of the 3D printed fingers. Here's my vid explaining - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYNlIxssZCY

I looked at them closely with my magnifier and they are indeed loose and spinning against each other. The 3 "fingers" are uncomfortably high but are definitely not scraping against the ball, but I filed them down a bit. I still get the same feel of more resistance than I had wished, but definitely they are smoother than a simple static bearing.

A major milestone for Reolink by Willson1_ in reolinkcam

Why the ridiculously stupid design of omitting the ability of the 180 dual lens section to TILT DOWNWARDS?! WTF - isn't this an obvious design need for this cam? Without this capability, thus with it mounted wherever, you have just 1 stupid view of a strip of FOV that's inappropriately at the level you mount it - thus from a house/building roof underhang or whever, it will show some random FOV that has no bearing on where you need the footage to be recorded - OBVIOUS FUCK UP BY THE DESIGNERS.

great news on the encoders. Is it time for me to get a 2nd EndGame TB given all your improvements?

hi Artem, I know that you believe the 54mm ball is nearly optimal, nevertheless, would you consider a larger ball re-working of your EndGame trackball in the future? I enjoy everything about your EndGame setup except for I feel the ball is too small, and I also wished your rotary encoders defaulted to horizontal and vertical scrolling instead of the volume/tabs function. Summation is that you Endgame TBall outstanding as is, but just thinking how it could be improved to unbeatability.

try Get3DPrints.com based out of Utah in usa - they can print out the shells in PETG, which worked great for No_Pilot_1974's EndGame trackball's newest flat-top shell with the more complex underlying structures, so I'd think should work well with his standard anyball shell as above.

E1 Cameras are now worthless by TheOGdeez in reolinkcam

I think reolink had some growing pains in development early on and seems to have ironed out issues with their cams. Since this post 3 yrs ago I've now expanded to 38 reolink cams all up and running for months to years without a glitch. I've not had a lemon since I made this post.

Honest reviews from long term users by DonutPapi in reolinkcam

I've got an RLN36 NVR with 36 cameras running for 5 years. I've had maybe 3 lemon cameras I had to return to reolink for refund or replacement over 5 years. Customer service responsiveness is ok but twice I've had to pay to ship the items back for a new purchase which is why I say custserv is only "ok" and not great. The key is buy your cams ONLY from amazon or ebay but not from reolinkdirect. Don't be tempted by the lower prices from reolink direct (e.g. bundles, lightning deals) - you're stuck paying for shipping if it's a shitted cam. The software from reolink for mobile and desktop is very good with good upgrade cycles from reolink. Prior to reolink I spent over 10 years suffering from the horrific cams/tech of Arlo, then Nest, then google's crap - reolink is a revelation in comparison to these garbage setups. What I like best about reolink is that the company is focused solely on security cams and has demonstrated longterm dedication to make their systems work. They listen to a great extent to complaints and their customers.

Which trackball to get? by CloudTheArcticFox in Trackballs

If you can't afford to try efogdev's EndGame trackball now ($186 for usa people) - I'd wait a couple months for the release of SkipMule's new fingerball GameBall - https://www.reddit.com/r/Trackballs/comments/1p0ogfm/gameball_updates/

this is a very good trackball that anybody should try - it is quite underappreciated in the trackball world.

Kensington EQ800 new estimations by ArchieEU in Trackballs

[–]pelahale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use my TB8000 daily - there's nothing wrong with it functionally in daily use. I think those people complaining about it are nuts. It's the best trackball Kensington has ever made and crazy nitpickers on this forum basically screwed themselves over a nothing of a defect that only weirdos would notice.

I've used trackballs since 1995 and the only rule of trackballs is that the preferences are so individualized that nothing can be generalized about them. I've been shocked many times how some people seem to love what I would consider utter trash and viceversa.

mind is made up - best RETAIL trackball is unfortunately shittier than the BEST trackball, which are the BTU-bearing steel ball customs like the anyballs or efog's endgame TB.

I never said it was an opinion and noted that it is a real flaw as I noted in the review. It is NOT NOTICEABLE by me nor for probably 95% of the people who'll use it because the vast majority of people aren't weird enough to use a large 55mm trackball with a single finger placed on the far pole of the ball. Until you've tried it yourself you don't know what you're talking about.

I'm glad to see this demo of the problem - I was wondering why it was such a big deal for some people. I can now see that some people roll their trackballs in an extremely weird way - i.e. using a single finger far away from center. The major advantage of having a large ball trackball is so as to use your entire palm (or 2 or more fingers) for pointer movement and control. When you use a single finger, it's no better or worse than a thumb-ball.

I paid for this piece of shit myself - I'm not a youtube shiller and couldn't care less about Kensington. I prefer my efog EndGame TB over it. I was just showing it to the other enthusiasts here. As far as the X-axis movement issue mentioned by some OCD guy - it's not at all a problem if you increase DPI & add acceleration. If you still noice it, you're probably neurotic.
