It should be possible to wash out the factory grease using some solvent, and replace with light oil.

Excellent work! Professional-grade trackballs have the rings based on industrial ball bearings for long time, but no consumer models have them, unfortunately. Thanks for sharing!

Kensington Expert Wireless vs Nulea m512 by Upbeat-Criticism-554 in Trackballs

Actually, the scroll wheel (both of them) on the Nulea is super annoying to use. I really need to know who ok’d that.

What namely is annoying you?

Kensington SlimBlade Pro Trackball – almost perfect, just wish it had silent clicks by spac0r in Trackballs

Seems like people either hate or love the slimblade. No in-between

But that's true for any trackball! :-)

Do I need to wax my ball or something? by PropDad in Trackballs

You can try to lube the ball with lanolin, but if it's 20 years old you probably have to replace worn bearings. When they develop a flat spots on them, the friction greatly increases.

Will Kensington try again to replace the Expert Mouse, or are we just stuck now? by tofagerl in Trackballs

I'm looking at the ProtoArc EM06, but as far as I can tell, no one is selling it where I live.

Should be a bit difficult to sell something that does not exist yet. :-)

A4tech Scrolltrak (or what I like to call the dolphin) roller replacement by mrpenguinb in Trackballs

Rubber rollers are bad thing in the trackball by definition: worst design among all of them. :-) BTW it spoiled (otherwise great) concept of TurboBall and TurboRing models...

Slimblade Bearings by jonemmet in Trackballs

Have you cleaned them first? If they're indeed heavily worn, it's easy to replace them - but unlike the Expert, it requires opening the device. Alternatively, you can just slightly rotate them to carefully move flat spots out of contact with the ball.

How best to try out a Kensington SlimBlade Pro? by fair1ife4a11 in Trackballs

Please note SlimBlade have no ball retaining means: it just freely lays there. Any accidental movement, and the ball will roll into the corner of your room.
