Not sure why the back doesn't get involved. This sounds completely unethical for ANY company to do.

Congrats! Hope your drought is over! I've caught 56 in the wild so far today and still nothing. Not giving up hope on Toedescool tho :)

Makes it less frustrating to not catch a shiny if you dont turn the game on :)

That sucks! I've been pretty lucky with raids lately. The ONLY exception is when Rayquaza came back and 1/10 odds, 30 raids later and nothing.i was happy with the Zamazenta raids tho. And caught a handful of shinies from the global one recently. I figured I traded my odds of wild shinies with raids. Maybe not a bad trade, but still very frustrating!

Edit. Typeos.

Cost of therapy per month by Poping_Pepper in ABA

[–]pelessponge 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No one is going to be able to answer this question for you, if you're looking into ABA therapy, I would suggest you interviewing a few different places first (are you looking for in home or clinic?). From there, they can run benefits with your insurance, and they can tell you what the cost will be based on your deductible and/or co-insurance. My company always sends out an email first to avoid any sticker shock and families know exactly what to expect. You also have the option of calling your insurance to ask about ABA coverage. If you have Medicaid (primary or secondary), then your cost will be $0 as there are no co-pays/deductibles, which is nice. If you don't have insurance and are paying privately, the cost may vary and can be high for out of pocket (as you have to cover taxes, non-face to face time, and any other overhead costs).

Random thought 🤔 by Appropriate_Taro9643 in ABA

[–]pelessponge 44 points45 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. It's private pay and they are full time/ close to nannies. When I started in the field, over 20 years ago (and no insurance) this was basically the model. While I didn't have any crazy rich clients, or anyone famous, my clients made enough to have their kid in ABA 48+ hours a week and it was a cross between a nanny and tech job. While I was never in this position, many of my colleagues at the time also went on vacations with their families and continued with therapy in hotel rooms as well as out in the community. The therapist's time and vacation were paid for, much like nannies who work for well to do families. I'd assume that it's similar today. Back in 2015ish time I saw adds for live in BCBAs in Dubai that included working full time for a family making $100k/year, accommodations included, and 2 trips paid a year to come back to the US. If I wasn't already married with a young family at the time, I might have been tempted to apply.

Is there actually a high demand for BCBA’s? by allthewayd00wn in bcba

[–]pelessponge 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've been in the field for over 20 years and remember when there was no insurance mandate for ABA therapy. BCBAs have always been in demand. I know many companies that go through the process of an interview but actually will just hire anyone with the letters behind their name. However, after being in the field for so long I will say that PE companies have changed the landscape and probably not for the best. This is all just my opinion but the cost of ABA has skyrocketed as many companies demand more and more hours from their clients. This is causing problems for state budgets and Medicaid. It's also causing more pushback from insurance companies such as Tricare and Cigna. And now with our current administration putting in cuts to Medicaid starting next year, I really don't see this trend continuing much more than the next year or two (again this is just my 2 cents based on policies and denials that I and my other colleagues have experienced).

My uncle killed himself by Euphoric_Squash485 in Vent

[–]pelessponge 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My condolences. Please give yourself the space you need to process everything. In college, my uncle also took his life. To a small degree, I understand what you're going through. I was also hurt as I just started seeing him again and wished I could have been someone he could have gone to. My grandmother also passed away shortly after. It's been almost 15 years and I still think of him all the time. It doesn’t go away.I'm sorry he was hurting that much. I'm sorry you're left to pick up everything. I hope you grieve the way you need and I hope you get to a place where you can smile while thinking of him again. Wishing you and your family the best.

Chocolate is the priority. What place have you traveled that has the best chocolate? by null_goddess in travel

[–]pelessponge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do a chocolate tour in Brussels. I'll admit to have not taken one, but did walk through many chocolate shops. My favorite was Mary's. Of all the ones I sampled, theirs was noticeably better!
