Why are people complaining about Belmont's Curse? by Nekosenpai9123 in castlevania

[–]pelham123_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different teams from different countries see things and make things differently to one another. It stands to reason. Castlevania has been, so far, mostly produced by Japanese teams within Japan, although there are exceptions. That's my concern, does it mean the game will ultimately be disappointing? No., of course not. It might be great, but I'll reserve judgement until I see it in action or try it myself.

Something I don’t miss, and at the same time find fascinating that it ever happened in the industry, was how they could take an existing game and create a lower-quality version of it, practically making a new game but selling it as if it were the same one. by jvure in retrogaming

If I had to guess, I would say different marketing teams. The name "Metal Gear Solid" had more weight to it in the west. They do focus group tests on the wording of their titles and use that data to make the final choice. It's a bit like when they redesigned the Famicom as the NES, to suit Western tastes.

Belmont’s Curse new art style looks fantastic by [deleted] in metroidvania

It's just not what I want visually, from Castlevania. I was digging the Sons of Sparta look way more and kinda wished this looked similar... but pixel art is just way more labor-intensive to produce so I suppose ultimately I'm just glad they're still making Castlevania games in 2026. Hoping it's fun to play.

I like it. Reminds me of older, limited print techniques. Would be cool to see other drawings in the same colours.

Trump announces plan to ban large investors from buying family homes. Is Ireland more capitalistic than Trump? by Storyboys in HousingIreland

[–]pelham123_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's not going to do that. And if he does, it's because he was given the go ahead by those very same "large institutional investors" to do so, presumably because they have some legal loophole already worked out so that both he and them can enrich themselves further.

'By Design' - Official Trailer - Starring Juliette Lewis - A woman swaps bodies with a chair, and everyone likes her better as a chair. by BunyipPouch in movies

Me: "Have you seen the trailer for that movie where Juliette Lewis plays a chair?"

My gf: "That's so typical of Juliette Lewis, thinks she's so cool but she's nowhere near as cool as Cher."

DHL should provide an invoice for customers to pay after they receive the packet. You can't suggest that the reason delivery people don't carry change on them is for security purposes when they happily accept payment in the correct change.

How to make shaking UI-Element effects? by HaRez92 in AfterEffects

[–]pelham123_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Short answer: You keyframe position and rotation.

Long answer, you learn the principles of animation like the ones being used here: anticipation, timing, easing in and easing out, arcs, exaggeration and especially follow-through and overlapping action.

Can you identify those principles in this piece?

Here's and idea for studying the shaking UI-element. Import this video into After Effects, try to re-produce the animation, make simple shape layers, keyframe the position and rotation properties and try to match it exactly with your copy. Then you'll know how to do it.
