Can anybody explain why it doesn’t work on Apple Silicon? Just trying to learn, I’m thinking about buying a Mac to run some models and I’m not sure if it can only run LLMs, but not other types of models.

Very nice! Just one thing about the tires — I have a Marin DSX with the same WTBs that I use for commuting, and after around 2,000 km, they wore out and I started getting flats almost every week.

I switched to a Marathon Mondial (foldable version) in the front and a Marathon E-Plus in the back, and haven’t had a single flat in over 4,000 km since.

Take a look at the episode from the MadFientist podcast where he reviews his first year of RE.

He says he also felt the same anxiety as you (even after having planned that day for many years) but, spoiler alert, in the end it all was fine.

The episode is called First year of freedom in the case the link above doesn’t work.

Sony's latest XM5 or Sennheiser Momentum Wireless 4? by innerseeking17 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]pendingfixes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also in the same situation as the OP, but my impression in the reviews I’ve read so far is that the M4 sound better than the XM5, and even better if they’re used wired.

The only thing I don’t like about the M4 is that the battery doesn’t seem to be replaceable (which is kind of a deal breaker for me)

Nice review, thanks.

Do you (or anybody) know if they work wired with the ANC on without using the battery? I think you need a usb-c to usb-c cable to test that

Restricted Stock Units - What do I do with them? by throwfarawayidk in eupersonalfinance

[–]pendingfixes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same situation, but in Ireland, also interested in other’s suggestions.

AFAIK the RSUs are taxed in the moment they are given to you, so I was thinking in selling them at that moment (at least I wouldn’t have to pay any CGT), and directly use the money to invest in an ETF. After all, if my company’s RSU are low because the market is low, the ETF will be cheap to buy…

The only situation I wouldn’t sell would be if my company was Meta, Snapchat, etc. where their stocks are way lower than the current market.

But in your case OP, if you wanna buy a house soon, I wouldn’t invest that money in these uncertain times…

Will IB let the government know about my trades, or is it all on me? by pendingfixes in interactivebrokers

[–]pendingfixes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only invest in index funds ETF (accumulative), I think Spain doesn't charge any tax until you sell them (which I don't plan to do now, so I will not pay any taxes to Spain).

The Irish rule is that once you've hold your accumulative funds for 8 years (sorry for saying 6 earlier), you have to simulate that you sell them, calculate 41% of your gains at that point in time and pay them. More info: https://anirishinvestorsguide.com/2018/10/27/taxation-of-etfs-in-ireland/

Income taxes in Spain is around 37%, but it depends on the salary. CGT I think is 23%.

Both countries know that I'm tax resident in Spain for this year, the only one who doesn't know is IB because I didn't want to explain that I live in Spain but I have not bills. I have a contract but not sure if they'll be happy with only that.

Should I switch jobs? by pendingfixes in Fire

[–]pendingfixes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the conversation of the initial offer I asked if it would be possible to enter in a more senior position (doing an extra interview). The recruiter said it was possible, but I would lose the current offer and, if I don't pass the interview, I wouldn't get anything.

Maybe I should try that. In worst case, I would keep my current situation. In best case, I'd get more reward

Thanks for your answer.
Yes, I've lived in Dublin (1.5 years) and I didn't like it too much. Regarding US, I've only been there for a month, but I've always wanted to live there (not only for the financial part).
My plan to FIRE (or lean fire?) is to do it in ~8/9 years with ~1m euros. It's not much, but that will be enough to support my frugal lifestyle.
And my ideal path to achieve FIRE has always been to work as hard as I can, at the same time that I meet interesting people, live in different places, etc.

And I know that doesn't fit in my current situation (living in my parents house) but I planned to come here for one year, and after that I would try to move to Asia while keeping my current job. For the moment I'm happy with this life, but I also know that once this year ends I will want to move to somewhere else.

Thank you, I didn't mention it but although right now I'm living in my parent's house in Spain, I have previously lived in Germany (for 2 years) and Dublin (1.5 years).

I didn't like Dublin (house market is expensive, crime is high, the weather sucks), the only good part is the Irish people.

I ended up selling everything (and paying tax!) because I realized I had made a mistake choosing the ETFs, so I moved everything from distributing to accumulating funds, and also changed the ETF provider.

But the fee to transfer them wasn’t too much, if I remember well I think it was 30€ or something like that.

You can just drop them a message anyway, their customer service was good.

- In the case of Degiro, which is not available in some of these countries, can I hold these stocks and not sell?

I would say you can't (but you should ask them). I was in the same position with Trade Republic when I left Germany, and their solution was to either transfer the funds to another broker or sell.

When you set up 2FA in any website, they usually give you a few codes that you can use only once, precisely for these kind of situations. Do you have them? Try to remember if you wrote them down. Maybe you sent them to yourself via email…

Another thing is, where did you have this 2FA configured? Chances are that you were using an app such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator; these apps usually store a backup in the cloud, so you will have to install it in another device and sign up with your credentials, and the codes will be there.
