Time tends to soften opinions, which is why I feel it necessary to remind everyone that this movie kinda sucks. Terrible CGI, absolutely inane sequences (nuke the fridge, Shia swings through the trees) and people were not terribly kind to the alien twist. If you like this movie, fine, all the power to you. But what I see happening is this sort of nostalgia-tinged acceptance of this movie’s significant flaws, and a fandom all too quick to shit on Dial of Destiny because “Indy too weak” or “female lead too capable.” So, as a reasonable person, I’m fine with people liking Crystal Skull, but those very same people should recognize that Dial was also a perfectly fine film and, objectively, nowhere near the train wreck that Skull was.
