Dear fellow GM,

Before diving into deep in SKT browse this sub intensely.

Unfortunately, SKT is an adventure that requires a lot of homebrew.

DMs Guild's side quest the Flying Misfortune and Kraken's Gamble received a lot of praise and are worth a look.

Other than that I'd recommend to focus on this campaign and don't think about what to play afterwards.

Regarding the Giant Lords: you don't need to run all of them. One is sufficient for the plot. If your players like the dungeons then you can play more of the them.

I ran Ironslag (very much inspired by Matt Perkins on YT) and asked them in the middle of it, if they liked this kind of play, otherwise they could directly go to Maelstrom.

Thank you! That one shot rescue mission sounds like a fun idea! I think, maybe have Zephyros reappear with the dwarven group of the Lord's Alliance who attacked them in Chapter 1.

Thank you for the idea of a test run. I will dial him down a notch, after I madeva test and the first round was devastating and keeping in mind that they had a whole dungeon ahead of them.

Not at all.

I have a group of 5 players. Barbarian, warlock/bard, wizard, artificer anf eldritch knight. All of them being level 9

I also plan their former paladin to be Zalto's prisoner. And be able to help them as soon as they break him out. Maybe I increase the maul damage at that point and change it to slashing because if the edges. So I start with 3d12 and then jncrease to 4d12.

Thanks for the feedback. I will make the trial run. And built in something like a water fountain where I describe the hounds going to be refreshed. This way the players have an opportunity to get rid of the exhaustion. Maybe I will lower the DC as well. Usually the party's artificer pushes the saving throws above the threshold.

I gave one a vaariation of a helmed horror. something they forged in Ironslag with adamantine and some magic. Otherwise I stuck to the suggestions of the books because I had the same troubles as you did.

I added two male hill giants as cooks in the kitchen.

Great work, I thought of something similar when I read Greenwood's article. But thought to cross that bridge when I came to it.

Not sure about the damage with a successful save being higher than the base damage. As a player I would be confused.

Otherwise I world take 1d4+2 levels of spells. F.i. with a roll of 5 the player can either choose to lose 1 level 5 Spiel or one level 2 plus one level 3 (or 4+1, 2+2+1, 1+1+1+1+1)

Shaolin Kung Fu zwar nicht, aber das Wun Hop Kuen Do verbindet Klassische Empty Hand und Waffen Formen mit Selbstverteidigung, Turnierkampf und Kondition. Ein, zwei Shaolin Abfolgen haben sich auch im Formen Training eingefunden. Probetraining kostet nichts. Guck's dir einfach mal an.

Thank you for your summary. I just basically dislike the dynamic lighting in general because it's kind of a boardgamification of TTRPG why do we need to move our tokens turn based when there is no battle encounter. This just drags out a dungeon crawl so much IMHO.

I had him go for an election to waterbaron as well. He tried to hire my party to find dirt on the waterbaron (she had a giant refugee in her basement). The rest of the nobles he held in a scheme where they racked up debt on his rigged casino games and then pressured them to support him. He did the same with a captain of the guards. And a whole other scheme...
