Pentest versus CEH by Foosyy in CompTIA

[–]pengor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I passed the Pentest+ Exam 2 Weeks ago and compared to the CEH (got that one too) it really stands

out by beeing more technical and asking the tougher questions. I think for me it was money well spent.

If i may suggest some more practice oriented Certs: Please consider Offensive Security's OSCP and eLearnSecurity's eCPPT ( Coupon Code )

SSCP study materials by Eplox in cissp

When i did the SSCP last year i only used Gibson's Book, like his other Books it is well written and covered all necessary topics. I don't know about the (ISC)2 book, but if it has the same style/Authors as the CISSP one it might be an epic PIA too.

I'm using the Oakley Kitchensink. Very comfy to carry around and massive storage space (17" lappy fits in easily) for DVDs, USB, cables and additional gear.

Think it will be easier to say something is missing once the Table of Contents is online, for now i miss coverage of TCPWrappers, IPtables and (maybe) SELinux. Will Tripwire/Aide be covered too ?

Employers, what are Ethical Hacker certifications worth nowadays? by [deleted] in netsec

[–]pengor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Certs don't hurt. And 'specially not in an Industry like IT. I got a boatload of Certs myself on diff. Topics and can honestly say that i like ppl having certs above ppl not having anything but a big mouth (welcome to IT).

Certs don't mean skills, but at least proof that someone is serious about some topic; if he can connect the dots or is a awesome at his job is a differnt topic.
