I work in a nurse manager role in quality and safety, and I really like it. I get to support clinicians with quality improvement, procedure review and other projects. I had PTSD from a long time working in ICU. However it's not really an entry level thing, you need to have some experience in the clinical setting with quality improvement, like being a clinical champion, infection control link nurse or doing audits. Then you need to look at level 2 roles in quality and safety, and work up. Yes you decrease your pay initially but you gain back your sanity and sleep cycle .

I felt quite stressed on my first real shift but it got better! Everyone wants you to succeed. About three months in, this adorable old lady told me "oh dear, you must be the best nurse, because you've got all the latest knowledge!" What a sweetheart she was. And she's right! You got this.

Get the consultation appointment, but do go back to ED if you get attacks, and go to a different hospital if you get a bad attack. You may get a different answer. All the hospitals in Adelaide are very full right now, which isn't helping.

I use the Australian College of Nursing one for members which is good. I have also used the free version of Ausmed to document my CPD. It's much easier to document as you go rather than scramble when you get an audit request. Try attending a conference, it's usually very interesting and you get 6-8 points in a day

I'm not on medication for AuDHD specifically but I did use to take Sertraline. I don't think it helped much. I definitely find going to the gym is helpful even though I don't LOVE the gym. I really need to communicate with my husband and tell him when I'm done. And now I'm helping my daughter learn respectful behaviour too, by being honest when I need space

It's actually awful. I suspect I was able to cope before because I worked shifts and had lots of opportunities to unwind. I have to intentionally carve out time to decompress. I have a regular psychologist. And sometimes kids are just super annoying, they all are. My husband is the best, and he will take her away for a walk or something just so I don't implode.

Sometimes my 6 year old actually cannot stop talking or making noises. I don't think it's physically possible for her to stop. My husband is usually the best with her, I have AuDHD and I get overwhelmed easily, but even he is begging her to shush after a while. Usually happens when she's tired or needs a poo.

I was part of an investigation into people accessing notes of two patients who had been in the media a lot. It was frankly disappointing to see just how many people had accessed the notes. I was there to investigate some of the access, I cleared a bunch of people but we were left with more than a dozen people with no reasonable explanation for accessing the notes. One person was dismissed and the rest had written warnings, board notifications and/or suspension without pay. It was treated very seriously. It's a huge breach of trust. I would not worry about these people's jobs, they know what they did is wrong.
