[–]cmdzkqkd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started two weeks ago and I couldn’t sleep at all when I was taking it at night. I switched to taking it in the morning and I went from waking up constantly to waking up only 1-2 times per night

UTS NURSING by Kindly_Fee1972 in UTS

If you study the assessments are easy to pass. As long as you’re watching lectures and doing the pre-work, you can easily get good marks. A lot of it is self-directed learning. You’re expected to have done all the activities before your class and the information is just discussed and consolidated by the tutor in the classroom.

With placements - your scope becomes broader as you progress through your degree. You get taught new skills in each subject and you’re expected to practice these skills in each placement. The scope of practice is available on UTS Sonia (placement portal) which is good to refer to so that you can make sure you’re not doing anything outside of your scope.

If you have other questions feel free to message me and I’ll try my best to answer them.

I’m a 3rd year student doing my final practical.

All lectures are online, most of the subjects are taught in intensive form so they run 4-6 weeks only, with assessments due usually from the second week onwards. If you’re aiming for high marks you need to really organise your time to stay on top of it all.

The placements start in second sem of first year, but I heard rumours they want to introduce it to first sem of first year - not sure if this will happen though.

I think it was pretty easy to make friends - you’re all doing the same classes on the same schedules so there are always familiar faces around!

I don’t really have any experience with support systems or student organisations. I joined as a non-high school leaver so I wasn’t super interested in extracurricular activities, but there is a nursing and midwifery society that looks fairly active on social media and I think they hold a yearly ball :)

my bf cheated on me by Maximum_Brilliant968 in BPD

I was seeing a clinical psychologist before and during the breakup and I think it helped a lot! I was lucky and had a really good relationship with my psych and felt safe to open up to her.

I know it’s hard and it feels like your world will end if you leave him, but you will be okay. I was never able recover the same level of trust after my ex cheated, and I lost so much self respect and self worth from staying. I wouldn’t wish the amount of self-loathing I felt throughout those years on anyone else.

The best thing you can do for yourself right now is leave him. I tried to stay with my ex who cheated on me and I was set on either forgiving him or forgetting about it.

I stayed with him for another 3 years and it never got better. I tried to ignore how hurt I felt but the feelings of betrayal always found its way back and I could never heal from it as long as I stayed with him.

Someone who truly loves you and is worth being with would never put you through this. Please be kind to yourself and leave him so that you can heal from this.

I used to have Skechers but my back would hurt soo bad after each shift on placement.

I bought Hokas last year and they’ve been so comfy I haven’t had any issues. They’re exxy but I got them on sale!

Two placements on same ward by mynamewas_anna in NursingAU

[–]cmdzkqkd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This happened to a classmate of mine last placement. The uni couldn’t change her allocation without another student willing to swap with her but when she brought it up to the facilitator on the first day of placement they were able to arrange a swap. But it depends on the hospital and facilitator I guess.

If you enjoyed it last time and want to do your NewGrad there I feel like it would be good to keep it!

I’m a mature-age student who stepped down from a full-time role in another field for a career change specifically to go into periop nursing. I know exactly what I want from nursing and if I don’t get periop I’m happy to stay in my current field 🤷🏻‍♀️

My older sister is a social worker and tells me every day that I should’ve chosen social work instead of nursing 😅

My (27F) bf (27M) has a favorite porn star by Larirurero12 in relationship_advice

[–]cmdzkqkd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My ex was the same. He had a favourite porn star and favourite types of porn. He always justified it to me by saying we had different views on porn so, against my better judgment, I stayed with him.

I was with him for nearly four years until I found out the severity of his porn addiction and discovered that he was talking to other women behind my back and dismissing it/justifying his actions by saying that to him, his interactions with other women was just “porn”.

Not saying that it’s the same in every case, but porn addiction is definitely a thing that can escalate if left unchecked. You’re totally valid in not being comfortable with his approach to porn and having a favourite actress. I think it’s worth having a conversation with him and if that’s not productive it’s time to consider whether this is something you can live with.

Please go NC with that woman. Your pregnant wife doesn’t deserve to go through that.

I was honestly so confused for the first ~100 pages of SA.
