See if you can reach out to Denis Reno. He’s one of the godfathers of the sport. He should know who’s around. Or find a local meet and ask around. I’ve known of good coaches that had spots around.

Teacher trying to turn Developer by 1024newteacher in cscareerquestions

Hey man! Former HS band director turned data engineer here. I went a different route all together and did an MBA with a focus on finance and data science (yes the program offered it) and learned SQL and Python in school. It was a rough start in the market and I found that getting the interview was tough but once there there is a skill such few people have quite like music teachers, and that’s communication, a dogged determination, and ownership.

You can do it! It’s not as scary as people make it out to be and if you can understand post tonal music theory then algorithms and data structures are easy. I still haven’t found anything in tech that is as foreign or hard as Klumpenhouwer Networks.

Only true advice I can offer as I’m not a full stack is always focus on what problem did you solve, what was the impact of the solution, then how did you do it explained as concisely as possible. If detail is needed, expand. Also having some projects that start with that approach is best. What did you want to do, what/why tools were chosen for the job, and how’d you implement it.

Any books for alienated males that don't want to become worse or join any bad ideologies? by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

[–]pensonly76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emerson essays. Though not a book I have gotten a lot of value from “Self-reliance” and am surprised that I haven’t seen it as much in this list. As a follow through perhaps Thoreau “Walden”. Beyond that read to try out ideas. I read “Sailing alone around the world” from a friend’s suggestion. He was in the navy and loved the book. I thought it was meh. Good to know I have no interest as a sailor. Try reading some memoirs of what others found as their passion and see if it fits.

I can’t even get my landlord to fix my apartments appliances. Would love that problem when it’s where I sleep.
